Figured it would be years before I had the chance to get a new bike as my wife just got her first bike. Anyway, she was mentioning to me that maybe it is a good time for me to get an XB9R with the 04's coming out. I would be sad to see my M2 go, if I could actually get a good price for it, but I need the 9R. Are there any special financing deals going on now, and if my dealer has a couple sitting for over a year and marked at $8,500 before the 04 pricing was announced, you think I could grab one for $8,000? I know the "market value" of a Buell has nothing to do with book value, but I could handle up to $5,000 cash out lay and owe nothing on the M2. Is insurance worse than an M2? I pay just over $300 a year full coverage in NY with Guide One. Really cannot see spending on a 12R because she really wants a fourth child in the near future. Would I just be better off waiting, fixing any scratches etc on mine and then buying an 03 in he spring? |

Being in NY, I could also sell my bike locally, assuming that I could find a buyer. I will try and call you tomorrow. I am Mr. Mom for a while. |

I saw leftover '03s in the Philly area for around $7600. But from what I've read here, you'd be hard-pressed to beat the customer service you'll get from Daves. |

In Arizona 2003 XB9R/XB9S are priced at $8495.00 out the door. They are advertising payments at $149.00/month, O.A.C. ZERO down or 3.99% APR for 36 months. The offer is only good through September 30th. -JW:> |

Leftovers for $7600, wow! Someone from a PA dealer was kind enough to give me an email of $8375 out the door but only Lightnings. Now it is making me somewhat apprehensive seeing how they go down, but so did my M2. Daves did me right on a jacket, just wish Iowa was a little closer. These prices are slightly better than the new 99 X1 a local dealer has tagged at $8,300, don't you think? |

H-D of Edison, NJ is a great Buell dealer and not too far from you. They have a bunch of "value priced" Buells. New '03 XB Firebolts and Lightnings for $8499 and a new 2002 X1 with PM rims for $8500. They WILL negotiate as well. Really Buell-friendly dealership. All the salesmen ride Buells, as well as the motorclothes manager and a couple guys in parts. Definitely closer than Iowa. |

Called Guide One and they want nearly triple what I pay for my M2. Almost $900 a year. That is more than I pay for my minivan. That is just not right! |

I stopped at H-D of Edison, NJ this weekend and found them to be very helpful. I will be going there for my next Buell. It is about 1 1/2 hrs. away from me but it is good to know about a dealer that might be able to help me when I need it. Michael FLHRCI_00 XB9S_03 Long Island, NY |

Most dedicated Buell gentlemen shouldn't worry about that cost drop off of XB9S. The Lightning is a very particular frame for only some folks. Buell thought this bike would be for everyone. It's no big deal just realize that some folks just aren't ready for something that sporty with that neutral a seat position. Coke in a Pepsi world. |

The $7600 was at Brian's H-D in Langhorne, PA. I don't know for sure if that's the out-the-door price, but it was on a price tag hanging from a dozen or so '03 XBs (both Rs and Ss) in the showroom. I don't know what they're like to deal with on sales--I've only had my Blast serviced there (once) but was happy with the service. |

I just checked another local dealer's website and they say $7700 plus tax. Now I just have to convince my wife that we don't need a $5,000 deck extension and find insurance that is not going to cost me $900 a year, and I am all set. Anyone in NY area actually find decent insurance rates? HD Ins quoted me $880 for the 9R, Progressive very similar. A BMW 1100S was around $430, but I don't have $12,000. |
