I notice that many of us ULY riders are a bit older than most of us would care to admit. Well I'm 54. Maybe we just gravitate toward this kind of bike. Reasonably light, powerful, great handling, easy to look at and work on. Any of you other guys care to admit that you are over 40? Own up. |

I'll be 60 next month. I got the name Crusty from a good friend who's 20 years younger than me. He always referred to me as a "Crusty Old Fart". |

I'm all of 41 and bought the Buell because it was such an odd exercise in how to build a bike that I had to see what owning one would be like. And, I figured that BMW wasn't going to stop making anything I would want to buy any time soon, Triumph seems to be holding their own/not going away so I still had time to own a few of those( besides, the only tiger I ever wanted to own was the old(er) 855?) Anyway, to cut the ramble short...after checking off everything on my list of current bikes I wanted to own (ST, FJ and new Connie included) and having the resources to do so, I kept picking up the Buell brochure. My curiosity has been rewarded ten fold in the ownership of this bike, demons and all. I have to admit that I'd like to try the new VFR having been a fan of previous VFRs but with all that's going on in that thing, I'm more afraid of its TCO and repair bills than my Uly. Honda's good but not infallible... |

Be 62 next month. Interesting demographic on Buell ownership, since I think the original intention was to attract the younger 'Hooligan' crowd...instead they snared some foggys. Still had a 'bagger' in garage up until a few years ago, but after 10 years (& only 5,000 mi) of watching it collect dust, sold it to buy the Uly. "Baggages to bring stuffs" Thats Great! Come on Buellerxt - fess up. j |

PS - Geez! - we could be partly responsible for Buells demise. HD looked at Uly sales profile & said "hey, wait a minute - those guys are supposed to be OUR customers! If we shut down Buell, they'll all rush in here to buy obscenely priced Ultras with ape hangers, automatic throttle bliper & the 'chromologist' package". Hmmm - Wonder how thats workin for 'em? |

53. I have a 2001 X1 Lightning too. After a 12 hour day on the X1, I thought the Uly would be more age appropriate. It is a very comfortable bike! |

I guess so far I top the list at 66. I don't think this is so hard to understand - if you're not in to cruisers, want a bike that you can sit up on, like to ride a few miles and that doesn't weigh a ton (BMW GS) and cost too much then the list is short. I narrowed the choices down to the Uly and Multistrada (lost out because of maintenance costs, overall cost and problems they seem to have). Already had a Vstrom (good bike but got bored with it after 34,000 miles) and a KLR which was not enough bike when loaded down for camping - don't ride dirt except for gravel roads. I also ride older BMW airheads - keeping those, I have seen several other airhead riders on the site. |

Geez Redwing - it shows almost all of 07 owners as single & half 08 owners as divorced. Way outside normal distribution - Think the Ulys are responsible ??? |

On the cusp of my upper 40's. It seems like when I check my age group on a survey there are a lot more age categories behind me now than ahead of me.... |
