i'm looking to get a versahaul 55 to transport an xb9sl or blast for when my wife and i go on vacations in the back of our explorer. does anybody have any experience (good/bad) with this?

what do you think of a 500 lb tongue capacity of a class III hitch, does the xb weight exceed this?

I have carried a blast well over 1000 mi on the back of a chevy caprice with a class III hitch and a home built carrier . no worries about your hitch just make sure the carrier is good to 500lb also.

I have one sitting in my garage right now as we speak.

I've used it with my Uly on the back of a Toyota Sequoia with no problems at all.

My Sequoia has a 600lb tongue capacity. The carrier weighs about 85lbs. The bike will weigh in around 400, so you should be fine with a 500lb tongue capacity.

Keep in mind that at maximum tongue weight, the front will feel a little floaty. It gets pretty interesting in the curvy roads. I'll be using my hauler to Transport the M2 to BTF in October.

Well, dry weight is 390, with oil and a tank of fuel it will weigh more like 450. Man, if you are sitting on it while loading, you're up to 600+ pounds. If that thing bounce around AT ALL, you'll exceed the 500 pounds force in a heartbeat....I sure wouldn't do it!

You won't be sitting on it when you load it.

I usually loaded mine with an empty tank (or as close to empty as possible).

Oil and battery won't weigh the 25lbs between the carrier and dry weight.

It's close, but nothing to worry about. I've done it. MANY others have as well.

thank you for everybody's input.

i know that having a trailer is a safer option, i just hate being pegged with registration/insurance for something i will not use on a regular basis.
