Guys. I'm getting the itch for a thumper again. Last one was a BSA 441 "Victim", and already own a Cyclone. My choices from where I sit are the Blast, or the Enfield Bullet. The Bullet has a certain "look" about it which I like, but the Blast (as I understand it) can be made to move out quite briskly. Anybody have an opinion or suggestions to help with my decision? Thanks. STubb |

Consider the Handling aspects as well - the Enfield is behind there as well - if you want a classic style - the Enfield, if you want modern and all that entails - the Buell - GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Buell GT? Whassat? I know the Enfield is slow, but I came up on brit bikes, and the oil leaks and oil burning is sort of part of the picture. Maybe too much nostalgia. Anybody know the approximate HP of the Blast? Thanks. Stubb. |

Blast has 34 hp at the crank. About 28 rear wheel is close estimate. |

There was some time ago, a guy making the same comparison.(dont know where the posts are) While I dont think a Blast is state of the art, its not a 35 year old brit bike(made in India?) either.I was thinking about an R E myself! Love Brit bikes, But if you've already got a cyclone, what about an old Triumph 750 or 650,they can be quite quick, handle, and may be a better investment (than RE),& the parts are out there! |

I dunno. Just a wild hair I suppose. Would do better to get a 10 year old gold wing bagger for those long summertime trips, and spend about the same amount of money. Just don't really want something that big and heavy, but would doubtless get better use from it. Stubb |

You dont need big and heavy to tour, just something comfortable.(The Blast aint it!)Toured quite nicely on a Sportster myself. Let us know what you decide & good luck. |

My neighbor has a Bullet - he got it a couple years ago, and that was one of the things that made me start thinking about getting a bike. I love the look of it (with some mild customization, of course), and I also thought about getting one. When I mentioned this to my neighbor, he didn't miss a beat... "You wanna buy mine?" It's difficult to start, generally problematic, and not powerful enough to ride on the freeway. A few days ago he said he wished he had gotten a Blast! A customized Bullet, hand built by a master craftsman from the frame up, would be pretty freakin sweet! ...but "out of the box" they're unreliable, underpowered, and outdated. just my $0.02 |

I'm sure I'd enjoy toodling around town on a Bullet. But with 346cc and 18 BHP I wouldn't expect it to be a highway cruiser or road burner in any sense of the word. The British singles were not particularly easy starting bikes when they were in their prime. My experience with them was an occasional trade off ride. The guys that owned them and loved them had their starting drill and carburation quirks all sorted out. A BSA 444 Victor I visited regularly was a joy if you knew the drill, a thoroughly rotten bastard if you did not. It was that simple. So lowball the guy on the Bullet, see if you can figure it out, and enjoy the ride! Thump, thump, thump... It's a beautiful thing. Jack |

He's got the Bullet parked by the curb with a "FOR SALE" sign on it, if anybody in the HouTX area is interested. It really is a cool bike, as long as you don't want to take it out on the freeway. |
