08 1125R for the most part runs great but lately I have been having trouble starting it. It usually takes a couple cranks to get it going..hot or cold. Also when I park it in the garage, the fumes are unbearable. Smells like it is running way too rich. It is all stock, except for removing the air box cover. Not sure which flash update is on it. Had it updated about a year ago. Any thoughts? |

cali kit? in either case i'd hold the throttle all the way open when you turn the ignition on to use the anti fouling option see if that helps |

The fumes are probably not related to the starting issue and are probably just the fuel expansion drain tube leaking (search for cali can or gas smell). As for starting, you are waiting until the CEL goes off before hitting the starter button, right? |

Yes I wait for all lights to go off. Im pretty sure I dont have the cali kit, nor do I ever find any gas leak. |

You may not actually seen the gas drop from the tube as it is meant to vent the fumes. The heat from the bike may keep it hot enough to remain as vapor so you'll just smell it. The real problem though must be something else. The EFI should allow it to start pretty easy in all conditions. It probably isn't the flash so you are going to need the dealer to look at it. |

It probably isn't the flash I'd probably disagree with that, my starting issues were cured with a new flash. If you use the search function on here you'll find a few threads on this, mine was flooding (as yours sound like it is) and a re-flash cured the issue. Using the "anti-fouling" procedure helped - and the backfire it produced was great for scaring the cats away. |

LOL. I guess a smarter guy than me would have actually said: "It probably isn't the flash but you should definitely get the newest one before doing anything else." That way even though I am likely wrong about the problem, it may well get fixed anyway. I'll try to keep my mouth shut when I don't know what I am talking about. |
