Welcome to riding in Colorado! If you didn't see hail and temperatures in the thirties on a hot summer day you need to try it again. |

I got out on the CR today. I took it down Copper Gulch and cut over to Hwy. 69, then west to Cotopaxi, and then back home via Hwy. 50. I was enjoying the benefits of the new ECM flash, certainly. BIG difference. It is just smoother all the way around. I washed her when I got back. My thoughts on naming her right now are between "Lucille" and "Reba". Can't wait to introduce her to the roads in New Mexico later this month. |

Dan and I did a nice 230 mile ride today. Went down into Deckers to Woodland Park, west on 24 and south of Florisant into Cripple Creek then back up to 24 and back to Deckers. I ventured out and we took the short cut home from Deckers. It's Rte 67 and has a 15% grade gravel road for a short distance which was why I was a little nervous. The CR did great (and so did I). We headed back towards Sedalia then down 105 to home. The short cut saved about 60 miles and about 1 1/2 hrs riding. We were out for about 6 hrs. We're heading up north next weekend to explore the roads west of Ft. Collins. Hopefully the monsoon rains will be over by then. Glad everyone had a fun and safe ride today. And have fun in New Mexico. I think we'll be dirt biking that weekend. |

Julie, Lynn and I will miss you and Dan in NM... I was really hoping you two could make it. I think this one is going to be the best one yet. CJ and Dave are working hard to make sure it is. We have not decided on a route yet but may go through Bishops Castle if Lynn is up for it... She is really doing great on the XB and it is damn near impossible to shake her now. Her tire wear shows it. Julie, you have been an inspiration to her. You two have fun in the dirt... We may be joining you before too long. Frank |

Frank, maybe I can talk Dan into thinking about heading down to NM. Do you know if there are any campgrounds down there? We both have to work on Friday, so even if we did go down we probably wouldn't be able to leave until after work and would drive the truck/toy hauler down there. I'm so glad Lynn is enjoying her XB. As much as I love my new CR I don't think I could sell my little blue. I feel bad cause she's just sitting in the garage covered with a blankie. I need to get on her and play some. It would be a blast to see you guys on dirt bikes. It is so much fun. We haven't been out as much as we wanted to. Where does the time go????!!!!!
(well, couldn't talk Dan into it. It's dirt biking after all ) (Message edited by jumpinjewels on August 09, 2010) |

Julie there are camp grounds along that road to Red River (NM 38 ???) plus around Eagles Nest. There should be a NM web site to reserve something in that area. Anywhere along the Enchanted Circle would be nice.... Your making me wish I had thought of that and just camped... Lynn and I need to go looking at dirt bikes one day... Frank |

Did a 200+ mile ride today with Mike and Mark. Rode to Golden, up Golden gate canyon to Central city, down parkway to i-70, then to and over Loveland pass to Breckenridge for lunch, then over Hoosier pass to Fairplay and 285 to Conifer, then to Evergreen and down the canyon to get back home. Great day, Good weather and all was safe with no tickets! |

Julie - I have to take advantage of days that I do not have any work scheduled. (I did work the last two Saturdays) Yes it is nice to ride during the week. A lot less traffic to follow in the canyons and less police too. Hope you guys have a fun weekend exploring some new roads up there. |

Did everyone notice how nice it was this morning? Fall riding weather is around the corner! I think that may be the prime time in this part of the country. |

Dan and I did Hwy 14 from Teds place to Walden, then continued down 14 and up to Rabbit Ears pass. Turned back and went south on Hwy 40 almost to Granby and hung a left on 125 north (what a nice road). Went as far as Rand and made a right up a dirt road back to Gould. Had to stop at a KOA and put some gas in the bikes. Then headed back on 14 to Ted's place. We did just over 300 miles today. Weather was great. Yes a little fall like this morning and cooler up at elevation, but overall, it was a beautiful ride. This state has so much to offer. (Message edited by jumpinjewels on August 14, 2010) |

I rode up hwy. 9 to Breckenridge, on through Frisco, then up to Leadville. Stopped there and went through the mining museum and had supper at the Golden Burro. Then it was due South through Beuna Vista, Salida, then back to Canon. The 1125 just pulls so smoothly since the ECM update. Very fall like temps above 10,000 feet. They were having the bicycle race in Leadville, but I didn't see Lance Armstrong. |

Jody, I was in Leadville most of the day yesterday watching the Mt. Bike race (100 Miles). Lance did not race because of a injury he suffered during a crash in the Tour de France last month. His pal, Levi, won the race and broke Lance's record bye 13 min. It was a beautiful day to be in the mountains for sure. Julie, Sound like a great ride. I am familiar with most of the roads you guys road yesterday. |

We went back to 11 mile. I wanted to scout some better sites and a friend of ours was camping there as well so we got a spot next to him then spent a day going around the lake and visiting another friend that has a place about 1.4 mile from the lake. We found the perfect spot for next time. Actually we found a couple that I liked... I did not fish this time but the weather was good. The wind picked up yesterday afternoon but the heater was not required at all... |
