Just got my XB12R last Saturday, from Dave in Waterloo, only to find out Monday that Farmers Insurance Group no longer insures Buell Motorcycles!! This is after having had my 2000 M2 insured with them since I bought it new as well as my house and other vehicles. I'm 40+ with a clean driving record so my agent did me a favor and went looking for other companies to cover the bike at 2 to 3 times my current rate. Not good, any suggestions??

Sell the bike to me. Just kidding. Try HD Insurance.

Dairyland, Guide One, Allstate, Progressive, State Farm, Geico, ... Just let your fingers do the walking (in the Yellow Pages) to see what companies insure m/c's in your state. Then compare. Each state seems to have different rules and insurers.

Progressive jacked my XB9S rates 70% so I jumped to Dairyland. Next year I'll shop around again.

I got an XB12S 2 weekends ago. After checking with all the usual insurance providers I called the Auto Club (AAA). I've got my 3 cars & house insured with them. They were the least expensive of all, and by a bunch!!. Must have something to do with multi-vehicle discount... but I'm not questioning it!!

No way would they let me out without insurance!! An agent friend wrote an insurance binder, good for 5 days, to give me time to shop for a policy.

Gearhead,I called my Progressive agent and told her I wanted ins on the 12R with the same coverage as I have on the XB9. No news is good news as they have not called back. Progressive has good rates for me with multiple bikes. I'll find out Tuesday what the scoop is on the $$. For those that don't know me,I was at Waterloo today and met Gearhead and "James" (the guy that rode from Southern Cali on a
Blast to the 20th). Cool guys even tho I was kinda preoccupied with other bussiness. Thanks gearhead for fixing me up
with the low pegs.....and Janet for delivering them.....she's quite the card

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys.
My dealer let me out of the shop with the bike because I had current insurance on my M2 trade and I have 30 days to get a new bike insured according to my agent here in Iowa. That may not be the case everywhere??
I checked with Progressive and thought they were rather high as well but I'm sure if I insured my cars and my wifes 883 the total might be more competitive.
The search continues, I'll keep you posted on what I learn and thanks again for your thoughts and suggestions!

P.S. Just_ziptab, it was great to meet you. Congrats on the addition of your new XB12R!! As I mentioned, I moved from an M2 with bolt on mods to the XB12R and I cannot believe the difference!! Smooth, quick and oh so nimble!! M2 torque with 40lbs less weight!!
Now if my 40+ year old backside can adjust to the seat for more than a 60 mile ride I'll be set, of course, that's not keeping me off it!!!

Just a suggestion.. Through Guide One /Harley Davidson (HOG/BRAG) I only pay about $700 for both my bikes (XB9R and Fat Boy).. I went through H-D to get the rates, just a few minutes on the phone and voila.. Check 'em out.

Later,

I got the insurance statement from Progressive today for the new XB12R........every thing is the same price as the XB9R except the $500.00 deductible comprehensive coverage...it is ten bucks more per year.
