}\blDark Grey/Silver 984cc 6600 miles Highly modified "BuellShark".}I'll try to hit the highlights. The parts are the best of everything. Thunderous rumble from the Micron Serpent full exhaust system (with crazy-bendy hydroformed headers and sweet dual chromed tips) the best rated exhaust for this engine, K&N air filter in later-year inner airbox cover (w/ inverted nipple), professionally tuned EFI @ Appleton H-D/Buell w/ Directlink tune-edit software and a computer key that is included...lots of high-quality carbon fiber from American Sport Bike (over $1000 in c-f alone!!!), black Renthal CR low bars, imported billet and rubber Rizoma grips, billet Pazzo racing adjustable levers, billet LSL pegs, clear lens l.e.d. signals and taillight, billet oil filler cap, billet and carbon fiber LSL front sprocket cover painted wrinkle-black to match the engine cases, polished peg brackets, custom plastics... The signature pieces of the bike, though, are the custom fabricated and painted "shark-gill" air box cover with a cut open inner airbox cover also, to really let the engine breathe, and the custom REAL SHARKSKIN SEAT by MCSeating out of Detroit--the black sections are natural sharkskin w/ a grey leather and the silver "carbon-fiber"-print vinyl to match the bike. The seat is deeply scooped so it's quite low with gel inserts and red stitching. I would ask $5000 but this is a 'rebuilt' title--minor accident, totaled claim, i bought it in '04 with 700 miles on it from the guy in northern Wisconsin who put it back together stock, good as new and then i've thoroughly tricked it out--so, I'll ask $4200 and see what happens. I The bike is torquey, fun, and beautiful. Runs very well. Stored indoors. I've just moved on to other projects and i needed a bike that the wife and i could tour on so this little hot-rod has to go. Oh, yeah and i just got a BRAND NEW PIRELLI DIABLO STRADA REAR TIRE installed--the front Pirelli has at least 60% tread left. Plus i've got more extras not installed if your interested. Buell factory service manual(included in sale), front and rear axle sliders, LSL steering damper (under head-tube mount), polished passenger peg brackets, Buell XB9 saddlebags. $4200 obo e-mail me during the week @ sticks-stones@att.net or call @ 920-960-3319 Thanks Buellers. ack{

Correct me if I'm wrong but I see a yellow spring in the rear. Doesn't the mean that this bike is actually a XB9SL? If so, is that that the stock seat but redone? Is the stock seat available? |

Well, shiver me timbers, i just realized i didn't say exactly what it is...or started as-- 2003 Buell Lightning XB9S Did they make the "low" in 2003? The stock seat pan was used for this custom seat, though we removed some of the plastic on the lower edge to expose more of the subframe, which is so beatifully shaped. |

Yes they made a low in 2003. I have one and although I am 6 2, it fits just fine. |

What's the closest airport?? That is a beautiful bike. The "Shark" look really sets it off. Any reason to doubt it riding to Virginia? |

Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee is the closest major airport but there's a closer one in Appleton (Outagamie County Regional Airport) that has quite a few flights now. Madison (Dane County Regional Airport) and Oshkosh (Wittman Regional Airport) are a little closer yet, though I don't know who/what flies in there. I'd be willing to pick you up, or I can trailer the bike to the airport if you want it. It is a beautiful bike. It was my only pride and joy for many years and if i wasn't married i don't think i'd ever sell it, especially now that they don't make 'em anymore. But a working man can only have so many bikes before the wife gets bitter. Such is life. I wouldn't hesitate at all riding it back to Virginia. Have a good backpack? Sounds like a blast if you can spend a good part of it off the superslab and get on to some good 2-lanes... (Message edited by dannyV on August 19, 2010) |

Took her to the Slimey Crud Run west of Madison a few weeks ago--ran like a top. Got a lot of praise from those who saw it. Great, fun ride. |
