After standing up through every small town I went through last week...all I can think of is a Bill Mayer seat...something to bring back the fun of a good motorcycle. Riders swear by em. Anybody had a Mayer or Russell seat custom built? Gotta do it I think. Tried all the additives. Euly | ||

Obviously this guy is a Bueller and I would certainly have favor with him. But...I gotta know...after reading all the BMS testimonies...can I go 800 miles without wanting someone to just shoot me? I would take 400... Does Baldwin have a rep for long distance comfort? Euly | ||

I've read one review of the Russell, he said it was fantastic.... and one review of the Baldwin, he said it was great. A couple reviews of the Corbin, they were mixed. But hey, I think the OEM seat is pretty darn good. I've done 670 miles in a day without issue. Could've kept going but the light was diminishing. Fact is, you're going to have a heck of a time finding 'reviews' on other Uly seats. Just about everyone sticks with stock. If you wanna go custom, you're pretty much on your own. | ||

wear cycling under wear, it will be another option and it's a cheap try before spending a whola lot of money on a seat. | ||

+1 on the bike shorts. I took a 1300 mile trip a few years ago. Had the same problem. The next year I wore bike shorts on a 1500 mile trip. No problem whatsoever. Best $35 I ever spent. | ||

I bought some bike shorts and found that sitting upright on the Uly the pad in the shorts missed those butt bones that were so sore. Maybe there are different designs out there. These may have been for a more bent over rider position. | ||

I have what may be the only Uly Baldwin seat. Loren made it for Frank special. I rode it from Colorado to East Troy and back last June and have nothing but praise for Loren's work. I believe it has a thin gel pack in it and was extremely comfy. I rode home straight thru with only short 20-30 minute breaks along the way. Got home with a happy butt. Zack | ||

I'm going to ge a Baldwin seat, just need to sell more parts to pay for the thing! I've spoken with Loren quite a bit about what he's making, and no, they aren't the cheapest, but the quality looks awesome, as does the features he adds. Hope to have mine this fall. | ||

For $75 I took my seat to a local shop and had them shave off the sharp molded edges where the passenger part meets the rider part of the seat. They replaced what they shaved off with soft sponge just so the seat looked like stock. It fixed the burning sensation I experienced after long rides. Still hit the BC powders pretty hard, but don't need a prescription. | ||

But I have had a lot of seats over the years and really none have worked great for me except the stock seat on a R1100RS I had, that was an all day seat. | ||

I've also decided that before I take another long multi-day ride with my Uly, I need to do something about the seat. While it isn't bad for me for a day or two, by the third day and after, I've got some serious diaper rash happening on my thighs where the seat edge hits me. I've had this on other bikes in the past, but not nearly as bad as on my Uly. I'm thinking of trying to get an '06 "tall seat" to see if that fixes things... | ||

http://greatdaytoride.com/Home_Page.php I contacted this guy about re-doing my seat (2007 stock) and he said he couldn't do it cause the seat is too thin. I suggested in another email that maybe he was thinking that the low seat was the one that was too thin, he emailed back the no in fact the 2007 stock seat is too thin. Funny thing is that the Baldwin seat is modeled after the stock 2007 seat with foam and gel added. He has no problem with the seat thickness profile. Also, I use the bike shorts under my riding pants and have found that works great for long distances (along with the rider comfort kit). The enemy is the heat generated from the engine, the more the seat stays cool the longer you can ride in comfort. | ||

I am not a seat maker but his method does not sound that great to me. Love my Baldwin's... I have had two (Zac has one now since he bought my Uly).. I still have one on my S2T. I rode the other S2 a few weekends ago with a Corbin and while it is better than stock I was hurting after the first 150 miles... Sucked.. No so with my Baldwin and I will have him do another one for me soon. You get what you pay for. Frank | ||

I replaced the stock seat on my 08 XT with a new 06 Tall Seat from Buell and absolutely love it. I put 630 miles on in a day and a half last weekend and never felt like I had to get off because of the seat. The only reason I stopped was for gas and a snack. I paid $88.80 plus $10 shipping for my seat brand new. Value wise, I don't think you will find more for the money. But, just because this seat works for me, it may not work for you. It all depends on your build. I am 6'0" and 225 lbs. with a 34 inch inseam, ( give or take a few lbs. ). Thanks. | ||

Motorbike...I am 6'1", 225 and 34" inseam...and the new tall seat. Must be another measurement for butt dynamics but I really don't want to go there. Maybe genetics or age...I am 60. When I look and push on the new tall seat...seems real comfy. I see others on the board here that love the stock seats. Trying a wheel chair gel pad tomorrow. :-) Euly | ||

Hello... From my experience, the absolute best and most comfortable seat possible for the Uly is the Bagster seat. (bagster,com) With this seat it is possible to ride as many kilometers/miles as the rider possibly can in a day's ride in blissful comfort. (Even on the models without the optional gel pads.) This applies to heavier riders also. Bagster seats are also very stylish and you can pick and choose the color of each indiviadual panel as well as piping and thread color. I have ridden over 60000km on Bagster seats on both my Uly and my STT and I would never own any other seat. Bagster seats use the original Buell seat pans so you must send off your seat (or your spare seat) to have it re-done - for example during winter downtime. The cost of a typical Bagster seat is approx. 300 Euro (400 Euro with the gel option) - excluding shipping and they are worth every single cent. At Buell Hamburg, we have sold hundreds of Bagster seats and continue to sell them. If anyone is interested in the Bagster, they are welcome to contact me - I am willing to help get you one. :-) | ||

@ Mp3... Yes, the built in "backrest" is a Bagster trademark - it is the same with the seal panel configuration... On my Uly's backrest, I have written in "XB12X" - this is also an option available to a buyer... Have you tried to create/design your own seat on the website yet? You can actually play around with all the colors on all the panels, the piping and threading until you have your "perfect" seat - then you can save it to your computer should you ever want to order one. Several also offer the option of having you ride the bike to their shop where they will modify your seat while you wait, let you try it, and make adjustments to suit. | ||

I'm not a big fan of Corbin. I had one before the Russell on my old Concours, and it was horribly hard. I ended up trading it for the Russell, and the difference was night and day. That said, the quality of the Corbin was excellent. Others may feel differently. I really like the look of the Baldwins. I think I may go that route, especially since they seem to know Buells. This will be a winter thing - not going to send off my seat now. | ||

Reading your posts confirms my belief that seats are a butt specific item. What works for one may not work for another. I still have a nice Corbin seat off my "07 Uly". Shipping is about $30 anywhere in the Cont. US. Make me an offer! | ||
