I have no idea who "James" is, but I saw discussion on another thread about how he is stuck in Iowa waiting for a new head for the blast. Makes sense to me... talk to Dave asking for a new head... response: "That part has been superseeded. The new part number is XB12S, and we will need the rest of your old blast in exchange to avoid a core charge "

Dyna- I can't explain it but I feel exactly the same way you do!! If I had to choose a xb9 it would be the xb9s without question. But in the 12's I love the 12R way more! I don't understand it either I think for me it is the black on that sleek body work! |

Yes, James is "stuck" in Iowa. The head should be in today and we'll get him on his way back to CA. He has been having a great time riding the S3 I loaned him for his stay here. He went up to NE Iowa riding the only curvy roads we have. He's been to the motorcycle museum in Anamosa. He's been staying with IaMike and although it always sucks to have your bike broke down I think he is making the best of it. I believe he has a different idea of what Iowa is like now that he has been here for a while. Hopefully his parts will come today and we can get his Blast fixed for his ride home. Ride to the edge! I'm sticking with my original post! And still want to know what color. Dave, as far as selling Buells, maybe you should travel around and teach the benefits of customer service, I'm sure many would benefit from it... |

It is someone with a screen name with a bike model in it. They are not a resident of Iowa. They know both Dave and Spidey. They are not affiliated with the KC Mob. They are within delivery distance for Doug. They therefore probably reside in Illinois, Minnesota, or Wisconsin. They haven't posted yet so they may be traveling.

MikeJ is narrowing it down. No one has guessed correctly yet. I know that a few of you do know who it is and I thank you for not spilling the beans! Bubba, Call me tomorrow and I'll share the secret recipe with you, cause I like you, you are like the brother I never wanted(grin). To let it out on the board would cause mass hysteria and lines at every Buell dealer in the country. Unfortunatly most dealers would fumble the ball anyway so the potion is for the select few. Glitch, I have offered to assist HDU(the ones that do Buell training) set up a seminar for the dealer meeting next winter in Orlando. As of yet they have not taken me up on my offer. Maybe I'm asking for too much compensation(supply me with all the Diet Pepsi I can drink) Many HD/(alleged)Buell dealers would probably not want to hear what I have to say anyway. I don't have a PHD or fancy title, I'm just Dave, peon, longhaired, not PC but no BS salesguy to them. Oh well, I offered, if they don't want my help that's OK with me. No hard feelings. I like the tour idea, make a loop around the country stopping at Buell dealers for a day or 3 each. I don't think my wife would like that very much. I'd have to charge them a lot more than Diet Pepsi to do that! It would be pretty cool though. Ride to the edge! I gotta get out in the garage and change the oil on the XB! All this talk of Pepsi products on this board is disturbing. None of you Pepsi drinkers are helping a fellow Bueller with his job security, namely me... Oh yeah, this new XB12 owner... Is the new owner one of the most Buell faithful? |

Dave's secret formula is no secret. DO: 1.Treat customers with respect and dignity. 2.Make them feel like you want them as a customer and that you apreciate their business. 3. Know the specs on a Buell. Don't try to tell them a Buell is or is not something it really isn't. DO NOT: 1.Tell them a Buell is just a stepping stone to a real bike. 2.Treat them like they are an annoyance and wasting your valuable time. Why do these easy steps seem so hard to understand for most dealers? |

"Why do these easy steps seem so hard to understand for most dealers?" Because when most dealers haven't had to try to sell a bike in decades and they've been running waiting lists and holding non-refundable deposits and charging way over MSRP prices for new floor stock, with all that there is little need to some dealers to worry about the "piddly" stuff mentioned in your post. ("Piddly" in this case is a word I once heard a dealer in another time and place speak, well before I heard of Buells.) |

Sorry Glitch, don't mean to put you out of a job. Maybe I'll have a diet Coke this afternoon just for you. The new owner is male, I missed that one earlier. You are right Dan, no big secret as far as how to treat people. I find it hard to understand why all dealers can't seem to figure it out too.(this is not limited to Buell dealerships by the way) MikeJ is correct about the lack of "salespeople" in HD dealerships. We have the same problem in Waterloo at our dealership.(I'm working on that) So, what do you think Spidey, pretty cool huh? I was very pleased with being able to earn his business. I walked around yesterday with a bigger smile than usual. I'm still grinnin! Got the oil changed on the XB, put new front pads on it and reinstalled the passenger foot pegs that I had trashed when I crashed at Brainerd. Now Penny can do some laps on the back of the bike at the track this weekend with me. God, I love that woman! Ride to the edge! Who's next? Dave Iowa HD/Buell (Buell Cycle Center) |
