You can not switch a 2008 model ECM with a 2009 or later model that is NOT working because the 2009CR and R model have different injectors and fueling. |

Erik Buell Racing shows you can with the race ECM. Not getting into a discussion about it, but that is what they show. ac |

Did you ask Erik Buell Racing? My suggestion would be to e-mail them. |

How about this: I KNOW someone who has run an 09 ecm in their 08. The speedo was wrong, but everything else seemed to work. ac |

Avc the 1125 engine can absorb à lot of fuel that happend when you do it the way aroun. Richer is always better |

So would running the 09 ECM in the 08 richen the mixture more than running an 08 ECM in an 09? ac |

Yes you absolutely can, the only difference in the 08 vs 09 or R vs CR is the speedo correction for the gearing difference. I know this cause I asked Erik Buell Racing directly, also cause I run that combo on my CR swingarmed R for about 4 mos now. I have a post on this on here already with the Erik Buell Racing email quoted in it. Rock on. Dave. |

you cannot swap ECM's between a 2008 and 2009-2010 model 1125. There are different injectors and calibration software for the injectors let that be very clear (-: |

You CAN swap ecm's between 2008-2009 if they are Erik Buell Racing ecm's and it may not work if you take your bone stock ecm out of your 2010cr and use it in your buddies 2008r there may be some issues with fueling and speedometer being out of calibration, the Erik Buell Racing ecm that is set up for a 1125R and used on a 2008 can be put on a 2009 1125R and there will be no issues as it is set up to work on both years, part of the programing... |

Well I went for a 180km ride just to see if it would learn like a stock one.I forgot to tell you guys that the race ecm is set for a cr with pump gas kn filter and stock exhaust and the 08r has stock air filter and fmf slipon, the results of the ride are it is still running abit lean very minor popping decel and it is 4 C cooler I can,t wait for the right ecn to come in the mail thanks all for the respones Mike |

keef, I wonder what the fuel milage is when they try to make it run well on both bike, the only way to do that is to let it run very rich.. |

Easyrider, what's your source on the info you're posting, I'm not attacking you at all, just curious. In doing my mods several months ago I was pretty diligent in researching the ECM. What I found was: - Erik Buell Racing says there's no programming or mapping difference between an 08 or 09, and no map/fueling changes for the difference in injectors, the injector change wasn't siginificant enough to require it. - according to the Buell parts catelog the 08 and 09 ECMs have the exact same part number. - fashes are only differentiated by R vs CR, due to gearing differences, there are no year oriented flashes because there's no programming difference across yrs. - Erik Buell Racing confirmed again there's no difference in the race ECMs across years, only difference in R vs CR is gearing. So, I have so many sources, from Buell/HD, Erik Buell Racing, the documentation, etc. all stating the ECMs aren't difference, regardless of the slight change in injectors. What source are finding that states the ECMs are different in their fuel maps? I'm not saying I'd be amazed that I might be wrong, but I'd be amazed if all of my sources were wrong ... they built the bike. Again, no offense my friend, I'm just trying to clear this up. If you were using logic, I understand, I was there too, that's why I kept researching, I too thought there would be a tune difference, but all my sources say no. Dave. |

About 45 MPG-US. (54 Imp MPG, 5.2L/100km) - 09 CR with Erik Buell Racing ECM. I will have to try my 08 and see how that does, been running the stock ECM on that. |

wow I wish I got that my 08r went down 1L per 100km when I installed my 09cr race ecm in it Mike |

Dman, Look at the difference in the fuel maps on the bone stock factory ECM calibrations, '08 to '09. You can use tools to view the maps. '08 and '09 do not use the same maps. Why? Those came from the factory? If the injector & O2 sensor location changes for '09 do not have an effect, why are the maps different? Those where the only changes (that we publicly know of) that could effect the fuel requirements. If you are running closed loop, the real time EGO correction will compensate so you probably won't notice the inaccuracy of the maps. It won't effect mileage much, if any also. If you are not running closed loop, you will see the effect of the inaccurate maps. You can get away with sloppy maps with closed loop enabled that's what happens here. Factory Ecm calibration designations: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=290431&post=1690880#POST1690880 "according to the Buell parts catelog the 08 and 09 ECMs have the exact same part number and the Buell XB also if you did your homework, the same part number, but they contain different calibrations "- fashes are only differentiated by R vs CR, due to gearing differences, there are no year oriented flashes because there's no programming difference across yrs. " This is an inaccurate statement (not true) There are different calibration designations for 08 and 09 model years |

Thnx, interesting. In looking at "upgrading" to 09 injectors I also asked both service & Erik Buell Racing if I needed to change flash, ECM programs (respectively), both said no. Only thing I can surmise is that based on your info, there's a technical difference. Maybe when I asked, I'm getting opinions, that is in their opinions there's no difference (because they feel it's too small a difference to account for in their opinion). I don't know, but it's interesting, thanks for sharing the info. |

Why go to 09 injectors? My 08 runs WAY cooler than my 09 (felt heat) and supposedly the only difference is the injectors. ac |

Dman, You are the only person on this forum who indeed should swap the injectors. Don't listen what other people have to say or experience, dont use the search function on this forum, Don't take your bike to a dyno and see yourself what happens when swapping the ECM, just do it man.. I love your philosophy, GO FOR IT.. |

Easy, you think I should go to 09 injectors? I checked into them back when Erik Buell Racing put them on their website, based on input and reading Dean's trial on them, I ruled it out. But do you think there would be a benefit based on my setup that someone like Dean or others wouldn't? My understanding is they aren't about power, but about low rpm smoothness, with my Erik Buell Racing ECM, I feel like I have all the smoothness I can handle, lol. |
