I figure that the best way to get people fired up for the GP is to post some pictures from last year. The streets in Downtown Indianapolis are closed to all vehicles except motorcycles; and they have a big party.
The Incredible Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I've been to Daytona several times over the years, and thought it was as good as it gets. Indy is a whole order of magnitude above that. I have never been so impressed with any racing facility. It is the World Center of Speed.
We didn't take too many pictures at the Mile, but here are a few
Parking at the front entrance of the Crowne Plaza Hotel
A couple of shots from the Moto GP race
And, of course, my favorite T-shirt of the event (unfortunately, they weren't for sale)
Now, I really hope we can make it this year! |

The wife and I are going to head over Saturday and stay all night. I was planning on just buying general admission tickets at the gate. Anybody recommend a nice hotel that's not out of the way from the track? |

http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=39.765509,-86.1 58503&spn=0.002004,0.003321&z=18 Meridian and Maryland, Indianapolis, Indiana is a safe bet. Zoom out a bit and see the length of Meridian from Monument Circle to South Street, bikes parked all along there as well as shows/exhibitions/vendors/dyno/etc. (Message edited by noone1569 on August 11, 2010) |

Also a ticket to the Indy Mile Flat Track race on Saturday night, $43.07 Sorry, just the one ticket for each event. PM me for details and to arrange pick up. I will be there. Bike in truck because my son will also be with me. Anyone going in with a general admission ticket? I need to walk in with someone who has one so I dont have to pay full price for a 3 year old. With Gen. Adm. 12 and under are free, the ticket I have is seating and I would have to buy him a seat just to walk around alot. (Message edited by new12r on August 21, 2010) |

I also have a spare ticket if someone needs to work a pair together. Stand J, Sec 1, Row GG, seat 16 or so. We're right in front of where you see the bikes coming out of turn 17 in Crusty's pics. $110. |
