Should we just let this thing die off? Or is there still progress being made? TT |

I just did 1600+ miles to Laguna Seca and back. I am not sure my ass will ever allow me to sit on the stock seat again. I have to make one final stop just 7 miles from home to give my ass a rest. |

What do you suggest. Al says he can do it and he shows no interest. IDK. (Message edited by dannybuell on July 29, 2010) |

I just spoke with Al. It seems the seat maker has dropped the ball, and it is going nowhere fast. He said he is planning on coming up with a comfort seat, but I don't think it is a real high priority, or quick endeavor at this time. I am for dropping it at this point. I will probably send mine out. Thanks for all your work on this, and thanks to Al too. TT |

Give Al a break! He is not a custom saddle shop and is at the mercy of a supplier. Mean while Him and Joanne had brake pads on the shelf for my S3T that has been out of production for 8 years and shipped them the same day I ordered them. I'll take brake pads over seats from Al any day. |

It seems the seat maker has dropped the ball How was I not giving Al a break? He is a great guy, and it seems very busy. Like I said, it is the custom seat maker that has dropped the ball. Have a nice day yourself. TT |

David, You posted while I was writing a reply. The give Al a break was in response to Dannybuell's "Al says he can do it and he shows no interest." |

Talked to Al today, he's still moving forward on this. Saddlemen seat, they're going to be making the complete seat the way I understand it. Sourcing the pan from the original vendor fell through, so the only other real option is to make it from scratch or buy it from HD, which probably won't happen. No idea on pricing or a timeframe, but it IS being worked on. |

I haven't been on the board much of late. Was at Laguna Seca, took a couple days off, and of course that put me WAY behind. BBoard surf time isn't the highest thing on the priority list unfortunately. I ordered a new seat for reverse engineering on the seat pan, received it, told the vendor that I had it and asked where they wanted me to send it, got no response. Did it again, they responded, it's on the way there now. From there, it gets reverse engineered, I pay some tooling fees, and we start making seats. Fast? Clearly not, takes time. If you need one NOW, send your seat to either Baldwin or saddlemen or your local auto upholsterer, and they'll fix you up. There's no economy of scale that way, but you get one faster. Al |

Cool Al. I haven't been in a big hurry but look forward to seeing what you get back. Anything over 200 miles and I definitely feel it in the arse. No way could I do that ride from Vegas up to Zion National Park in a day again! To get 350 comfy miles in a day on the CR is my goal. |

Al, I needed one for the ride to Laguna you bastard ; ) I'm kidding, I had a week to plan so a seat was the last thing I was thinking about. Of course after the 1600+ miles the seat was the only thing I was thinking about - my ass hurts. Wish I had run into you there but I was working corners the whole time. Need better seat. |

I would be interested in a more comfortable seat. Sign me up. I am not sure how I will be contacted, but I am interested in a more comfortable seat. John K. Ps - Laguna Seca was only 165 miles round trip for me. Stock seat wasn't bad, but as mentioned, a more commfy seat would be something I am interested in. |
