My Buell lower fairing apparently contacts my front header at speed. It does not touch when parked. In fact, the header barely touched the insulating pad. It's just something to be aware of. The pipe has burned halfway through the fairing. I will now wrap my exhaust pipes.

Mine did the same thing. The insulation seems to puff up when it gets hot and touches the header. I put some 1/2 inch spacers between the lower mounts and fairing as mentioned in other posts and added some insulation from American Sport Bike which is stiffer and doesn't puff up like the factory stuff. Problem solved. |

Same here. Added thicker spacers and more insulation. No problems, since. |

I got some aluminum tape from the local auto parts place and covered the heat padding stuff. Used some gaff tape to hold the front edge down nice and securely so the wind doesn't pick it up anymore. Solved that problem. I also had the header touching the fairing. Just bent that one bracket a bit and that took care of that one too! Gotta love the simple fixes! |
