Could someone enlighten this ignorant soul on differences between this '95 S2 and a '99 S3? Found a S3T locally as I was trying to come up with cash to finally follow up on buying a bike. Thanks for any input. |

if stock, the '99 will have 101hp/90ft-lbs torque vs 76/76 for the '95. the '99 is also fuel injected, vs carb for the '95. the '99 will look nice, especially if the airbox has been replaced; the '95 is freaking beautiful. if it were me, i'd get the '95 and spend some extra cash on updating the motor. in fact, that's what i did, when i purchased my '95 back in '98. it now has 40k miles on it; it's a great bike, imo. doug s. |

Just to build on Doug S's great response... if it were me, I'd just take the S2 and do reliability updates, not power updates. The S2 is about beauty and flow, and 75 HP is plenty for that, especially given low end power is good. |

Hey Bob- You've got mail. Just to touch on Bills post. Ive spent some time in the saddle of the S2 and I think it is plenty fast for what it is. I know the XB9 models have a couple more HP, but I really think the S2 would outperform an XB9 (just to give you some comparison). |

Chris, just saw your post. No email has come through, maybe hung up in cyberland at the moment. I'll check again later. |

an s2 w/engine updates, (cost me ~$800 when i had 'em done at time of purchase from a h-d dealer), might outperform an xb9, (which i rode when they first came out), but i don't think a stock s2 would... i test rode the s2 when it first came out back in '95; i was in love, but was a little disappointed w/the power. (i owned a stock '83 honda 750 interceptor at the time.) when buell upped the power in '98, the s2 jumped to the front of the line in my bike search, knowing i could get the engine done for not a lot of cash. the other bikes on my short list at the time were ducati monster & ducati 900ss/sp. i'd still like one of those. as far as reliability mods to an s2, not sure, really what they'd be; my bike has been pretty reliable. doug s. |

Chris, nothing is coming through. I think I saw on another thread someone else mention they weren't getting anything via PM either. I'll reply to one of our old emails so you can use the email address directly. |
