I was told the same thing...I just rotated my puck cover around and it stopped! ...well till the fluid builds up anyway. (Message edited by spank on July 20, 2010) |

Just checked HDnet, X2086.1AM is on backorder until 9/30. If you have a RevB cover, turn the puck 180 degrees and dump every now and then. Either way, unless it's gushing, keep the res full and ride it until parts come in. I can't ride mine until I find the shim I dropped. grrrrrr Zack |

My dealer just called me and said the parts have been pushed back for two weeks - we'll see who is correct. I showed him a photo of my leaking clutch last weekend and he ordered parts off of that. KeS |

Quick question ... is it hydraulic clutch fluid that leaks (that actuates the clutch piston), or motor/primary oil leaking past the piston? Can't really tell by look/color/smell. |

Jeepin...if its dripping out the weep hole I would think it can only be clutch fluid. When mine went through its weeping "phase" I could fill up the reservoir and watch it lower with each pull as it squirted out the weep hole. |

About two weeks ago I took mine ('08) in because the front brake was really pulsing and the clutch cover had started to weep (out the weep hole). Dealer replace the rotor (it was warped). I also replaced the front pads too. The clutch cylinder kit was installed, not just the "o" rings. Get the bike back on a Friday evening, ride about 30 or so, get home and it's leaking worse than before. Dripping down the cover enough so that it's getting sprayed on the muffler. Take the bike back Saturday morning and the dealer says they'll get the parts ordered right away. So on Monday, July 12th I drop the bike off at the dealer and told them they could have it all week cause I was going to be out of town. Anyways I get a message last Thursday saying the bikes was ready to pickup. It wasn't until this morning (Tuesday the 20th) that I was able to get it. Have only been able to ride about 10 miles so far, had to go to work. I'll keep ya posted. |

Quick question ... is it hydraulic clutch fluid that leaks (that actuates the clutch piston), or motor/primary oil leaking past the piston? It is the clutch hydraulic fluid, which is brake fluid NOT hydraulic fluid. If you use hydraulic fluid you will make a mess of things. |

It's DOT 4 fluid. So don't let it sit on any painted item. |

Mines leaking really bad, as in have to fill it back up every few hundred miles. I love this bike, but it sure looks like my parts concerns at shut down last fall have come true. May have to trade her in on something else next year, like the Ducati 848EVO just announced. http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?artic le=41267 |

So, I get a call from the dealer on Saturday. "Instead of waiting till Sept, I found a kit at another dealer and your bike is done". Here I thinking, "Great". I get there and first thing I notice, which is a question to those out there. I still see the drip stain down the cover, wasn't that supposed to be replaced? Then I get on the bike and I start it, runs for 10 seconds and stalls. hmmm, that's odd, get on it start it up again pull out and I don't even make it out of the parking lot and I stall again. rolling down the road, I start it, 5 seconds later I get a "fuel pump system issue" on the display. Pull over, turn it off, try to restart it. Starts, I give it gas... same error and the stall. so I push it back to the dealer and talk to them again, sorry to say the 1 buell guy they have left already so now I have to go back home, again. Second time in a row I go there to get the 'fixed' bike and it's not fixed. First question is, does anyone know what they did to my bike? Second, wasn't the cover supposed to be replaced? I know this is a long shot, but I'm trying to sell her anyways, but does anyone know the lemon laws between PA or Ohio, and if they had any luck with HD? Thanks, Andy |

Andy, what dealer are you working with? I'm not sure what's wrong, but it sure sounds like there is more problem now than just a minor leak in the clutch cover. I would recommend that you maybe take the bike to Highland HD in Somerset. I have always had good treatment at Highland. Just ask for Lloyd, be polite, and you should do fine. |

I dropped my 08 1125r off at Sunrise HD today for "Weeping clutch" but mine is a leaking clutch. My speedo also stops working, and sometimes my "check engine light" comes on. They ordered the parts over three weeks ago, but they still arent there. I figured, Im not going to keep riding it like that, so I'll let it sit in their garage. I also printed out some threads from this site with the parts list for these problems, and had the shop guy attach it to my service invoice. I just got this bike and it only has about 13oo miles on it, but its starting to piss me off. The more I read around here, the more worried I get. |

The reason the kit is on backorder is because of the clutch cover. Tell your dealer to just get the parts to fix it, that way you can ride it, and then if the clutch cover is messed up, you can get it in September. My dealer tried to do the same thing to me, i told them to not get the cover, the parts came in a week. |

Badslionsfan you mentioned thinking about trading the 1125 for a Ducati 848 EVO. I have an '08 1125R and an '08 848. Bought the 1125R to replace the Duc last August and have been trying to decide which bike to keep ever since. It's not like the Duc isn't everything that is written about it, cause it is truly wonderful to ride. Fast, handles, and well made. It's just that the 1125 is better in almost every way. It is more comfortable, not as hot, less expensive to maintain, less expensive to get to fit, handles much better IMO, AND we get Erik to email. Let's talk about the "less expensive to get to fit": the heat on my new 848 was so bad the bike was not rideable so the dealer suggested a full Termi system w ceramic coating. Just under $3000 and the coating lasted about 1000 miles. Mirrors show elbows clearly, extensions were $100. Grips are so hard 5 miles is the limit. The seat slopes toward the gas tank. The rear spring is suitable for a 250 lb rider and a replacement is not available for a 180 lb (there is one for a lighter and one for a heavier rider). The bars are at the wrong angle for street so new are $180 and on and on and endlessly on. The absolute worst part is the lackadaisical attitude that Ducati and their suppliers have about getting stuff to you in a time period that reflects a short riding season. Parts come from Italy.. the fastest I have seen is two weeks and a month is more realistic. The service manual is written for those who don't need it. Less expensive to maintain: drop the 1125 as I did on a gravel road. $0 unless the clutch lever is replaced, which it doesn't seem to need. Drop the 848 and buy the cowl brace, the cowl, the side fairing, the... On the other side the 848 is wonderful on the track and for short rides around town. It also has an indefinable something... in Italian it is called "fino". Kind of like dating a psycho bitch that makes you crazy except when she is making life unbelievably good. Not that it makes a difference: the 848 is "Gina" and the Buell is "the 1125". The Buell ads talked about "the rider coming first" and it is obvious he/she does. Ducati ads talk about "bred for the track" and they seem to be.. at the expense of the rider. Buell has the quiet zone, and at high speed it is obvious. Can you see the spot I am in? My wife (may the Good Lord bless her) says to keep them both. Who am I to argue? Good luck with your decision. Robert |

Why are some of you dropping your bikes off than waiting for the parts? Mt dealer verified the leak, sent me on my way, ordered the parts. When the parts arrived they called me to schedule an appointment. |

Because the first time I went there and they did order the parts, went back when they had the 'right' parts. Then later after they already tore into the bike said oh we don't have the right parts to fix your back and are not able to get it back together right with them. Which is the only reason. |

+1 on Highland HD. Lloyd and Nate will take care of you. I just wish they were not 360 miles away from me |
