Just picked up my new baby and it's shifting all messed up. It's very vague going into fifth and sixth and sometimes it won't go into fourth too. Is this something that will break in and be fine? I'm here with a friend who also bought one and his is fine. I'm sitting here in a hotel totally bummed out! It's a 09 with 30 miles on it now |

did you buy it from a dealer? I would bring it back, And have them look into it... sorry to hear about your misfortune, it is not typical. I have heard of very few people having problems with the transmissions. |

Sorry to say, but it won't get better. I had the shifter detent spring come undone in mine at 30 miles. I could shift first neutral and second. It acted a little funny in 4-6, kinda like your describing before it "let loose". Get it back to a dealer for service. Good news is, I'm now over 2100 miles without a single problem since! |

3000 miles and no problem in that direction. Start Here--- At the bottom of the main screen a folder titled "New 1125R/CR Owner Information" or http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/525759.html?1278043537 The bike is an absolute riot once you tame the noid... ECM... and get the suspension setup correctly. |

What do you mean it won't go into fourth? Is it not there, does it give a false neutral? Check the oil level and add or subtract as needed. Warning, checking the oil on these bikes is inconsistent, unless you are methodical. |

toona, it sounds EXACTLY what you're talking about! from fourth to fifth and from fifth to sixth it's like there's no detent feel at all. just dead space. but it usually goes into the next gear just no feel. down shifting is fine. beuller4ever, a couple times on a pretty high rev shift it has stayed in third. i shift to fourth, let out the clutch, and it's still in third. only a couple times though.. and i see what you're sayin bout the oil. every time i check it it looks empty! ok toona, can you please describe a "let go" lol what happened? update!! i now have 350 miles on my new baby and got it home. what an awesome machine!!! i think i'm just being to picky with the shifting. i read somewhere else talking about the vague feeling shifting into 5th & 6th. i guess i'm just used to my tubers & 9r ( which i think i got sold last night). so now it's just me and my new cr! man i love this thing! (i know, i'm late to the party lol) i bought the high bars, now i need the lines & cables. does anyone know where i can get some traction grips? or are they really long gone? thanks all for the help and advice! |

Al Lighton has a nice grip that is actually an enduro grip. I like it even better than the traction grips (which I used to use regularly as well). Its a thick soft rubber with bunches of holes. Wearing a lot better then the traction grips ever wore as well. |

Nukeblue - I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying your new bike! I'm not sure if you already have done this or not, but make sure that your shift lever is adjusted correctly for your foot. If it sits too high or too low, it can affect how the bike shifts. Takes 1 minute to do. |

reep, is that the gel thick grip? $10 wow sweet! i've used the traction grips on all my buells hate to see them go. i haven't adjusted the pegs yet but i'll play with that. reep, you goin to the w.v. buell rally? i actually met you way back when you first got the city-x down at the dragon. i had the billet s-3t with nuke-blue frame and pm wheels. |

Cool! I remember that! Those are the ones! I am using them on the KDX and on the Uly. I like them as well as the traction grips for comfort, and they are wearing better... http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/5662.html Doubt I will make WV, it's been a pretty busy summer, and I still owe Jack a "real ride" on the dirt bike and have to work that in. It'd be nice to hit TN or something... |
