I have to agree that I have not been too happy with the Corsa III's on my 09 CR. 3200 miles and the rear is starting to show cord yet I've never been that impressed with the tires adhesion either. I've had better tires. I'm going to try the Michelin's Power Pures as well as I have heard many good things about them. This bike, with its light flywheel and torque heavy mid-range is very hard on tires if you get on it at all. -Tutt |

Wow.... OK now I see why you guys (Stateside) are gryying higher miles ut of the tires than I expect to. What does the law say about minimum tread depth for you? The legal limit of tire tread depth in the UK for motorcycles over 50cc is 1mm across 3/4 of the width of the tread pattern and with visible tread on the remaining 1/4. I wouldn't even consider for a moment riding a bike with canvas showing, that's just stupid, if that's a tire with 2400 miles on it I'd have replaced it 1000 miles ago. |

Jules, The laws in the US are very similar regarding legal tread depth, but like most laws, are ignored buy some. I think you will find it a vast minority in the US that intentionally ride the tires down to the point where cords are showing. |

Ah, that's good to know, we have people with a similar outlook here... I think there should be some sort of intelligence test associated with obtaining a driver's licence.. |

jules, I agree with you. But there should be an actual driving test to get a drivers license. The current driving test is pathetic. That is part of the reason why there are so many bad drivers, they will give a drivers license to just about anybody. I was watching top gear the other day, and i heard them talk about getting a driver's license in sweden or norway. They said you have to log 2000 hours behind the wheel. It showed an instructor showing a student how to drift around a corner, and corner aggressively. That is what we need in the united states. |

Weslo, I installed a 2ct in the rear of my 1125 a few days ago. I've only ridden to work on it once but the bike felt like it turned in more easily and steered more neutrally. I spooned on a 2ct front last night but haven't ridden yet, but I expect another noticeable improvement over the corsa. That said, I'm comparing 2400 mile tires to brand new ones. I'm sure the improvement wouldn't be so noticeable if both sets were new. |

Jules - most statutes in the US require between 1/16" and 1/8" (1.5-3mm) or the wear indicators are showing, but it's only checked when the vehicle is inspected (yearly or every two years, depending upon where you live). I'd venture a guess that a lot of motorcycle riders who don't ride a lot in wet conditions or on the track would be more prone to milk that last bit of rubber. I know a lot of cruiser guys who take pride in max-ing out the mileage (they run harder rubber, too). My skins are softer and do double duty, so I can't run them that thin or they won't let me on the track. |
