One of my fork seals is starting to go so I figure I should go ahead and change them before it gets worse but that is one thing I dont have the knowlage or patientce to do so I figured I would pay to have it done. so I am wondering what others have paid to have there forks done? I got quoted at a local cycle shop yesterday for $180 for both seals and new oil. Is this too much or a good price? | ||

Learn to do it yourself. Youtube has vids for every type of repair. Or just google it. You can also learn to do many other things on your own. Another way is to get with a friend and learn together and help each other. My girl rides and we started doing all our own work. We did a cam shaft and several other repairs in the last couple years. We just changed the oil in all three of our bikes. I just changed the buells for the first time. It was fun and we found a great video using google. We are saving tons of money to put towards mods and upgrades. | ||

I agree do it yourself if possible, but $180 is a great price and I probably would take them up on that. | ||

Well my current housing situation kinda prevents me from doing such a repair my self. As I am currently living in an apartment complex so I don't exactly have a garage and jack stands or most of my tools here for that matter they are at my house in Louisiana which I won't be living at for another 6 months or so. So at the moment my best option would be to have a shop do it. If 180 is a decent price for a shop to do it then I will probably go that way | ||

Yeah, as long as the shop is qualified. Showas are common enough that it shouldn't be a problem. | ||

Well I know they do a lot of work on a lot of the jap bikes in town and since gsxrs are probably the most common of them and they also use showas I would figure they know what they are doing. Everyone I know who rides around here recomends these guys for both crusers and sport bikes. (sorry for the bad spelling my work computer does not have spell check like my home computer does.) | ||
