The high bar kit is being installed on the CR on Tuesday at Space Coast HD. I have the large hand option and need larger grips. Rizoma or one of the ebay grips? I like the ones with the metal on the center, do they get hot, do they hold up to the elements? Gets hot here in the central Florida swamp. What are you running or have experience with and recommend?? |

I have used these grips for over 14 years on two bikes. The 96 S1 and my CR. They are big, hard rubber, and don't cramp out your hand. http://www.amazon.com/GALINDO-GRIPS-PLAIN-THROTTLE -GA0094001/dp/B000GZLK80 The end cap is easily removed and with a little trimming ready for bar end accessories. |

You can use any grip you want, just remove the throttle tube. The Progrip brand grips are pretty nice. |

The Progrip thick gel grips on American Sport Bike are about the same diameter as the traction grips, but they are much softer and tackier. |

Buell traction grips (if you can find them). |

Buell Traction grips are gone as far as I can tell. The Galindos would probably work, except I have an aversion to chrome, I'm easily distracted. Something like those but with black metal would be cool. |

I put these pro-grip gel style "rally" grips on my CR. I like how squishy they are -- and they deaden vibration. They're sorta crappy for track days though because of the loss of feel. here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/Pro-Grip-Dual-Sport-Grips/dp /B001RTCPEW |

Italy, WOW! I would order those and a pizza, but spent all my euros. Do they take American Express? Tennis racket wrapping? Hmmm? I heard gel dosen't hold up so to well? Anyone try those $48.00 aluminum ones on A S B's web site, expensive, but look cool? Good input though Guys. |

Driven brand grips have good reviews. I have a pair for my ZX10R, but haven't installed them yet. |

I ran with gel infused racket tape from Dicks sporting goods and I love it and every biker that checks and grips my bars loves it also. So give it a try. I promise you'll say you like it. (Message edited by Guard_rail on July 14, 2010) |

I love seeing my tennis racket grip tape suggestion being so well received! Especially considering the way I found it...one of my S2's grips was coming apart while I was at my folks' house in Florida. My mom - all 73 years of her - is an avid tennis player and even before my accident could walk me up and down a tennis court at will. I grabbed a roll of her wrap because it was there and I couldn't find my gaffer's tape for a temporary fix. That was...four years ago? That grip tape is still on the S2. Only one wrap on the 1" bars of the S2 was enough. My S1W got double-wrapped to get it to the right size for me (I've got big paws) - and that's the best part about this stuff. Single wrap, little bigger. Loose base wrap with normal top wrap - 1.5 wraps - little larger. Double layer tight wrap - for big paws like mine. You can really tailor it. Good grip, absorb sweat (rain), hold up well (4 years!)...and cheap to replace when the time comes. And no throttle cable adjustments |

I keep a couple of rolls of Hockey-stick tape in my toolbox for tool handles. Interesting ideas. You can still get the heated grips, which are about the same size as the Tractions. They are pricey, but I love them, both Buells here have them. |

Heated are *close* to the same size as Tractions...but the Tractions have that nice bulge in the middle and are waaaay softer. I have heated on my CR and my Uly; grip tape on my S2 as noted above; and Tractions on my S1W. Been thinking about wrapping the heated...don't think it would burn anything out since they're not external-temp-regulated (it'd be like a big hand doign a deathgrip all the time), they just won't "work" as well. Haven't decided yet, though. |

The Tennis racket tape sounds interesting, theres a "Dick's sporting goods at the Melbourne Mall, I think I'll try that. I don't know if the heated grips would be worth the investment here in central FL. though. So no one has those aluminum and rubber ones from A S B? |

I am guilty for having tennis racket tape myself. the stuff just cant be beat especially some of the new stuff they have now,it really holds up to abuse. just like people use to look at me weird for using the press on heat shield tape on the inside of the frames to get heat out of the fuel tank/frame. you cant beat a yard stick and some 24X12 sheets. which is now being sold by a number of places to use for this purpose. mike |

There is a thread someplace here that mentions the material that the factory uses as a thermal barrier. Can't find it now, but I'll look further. You might have better luck searching. |

Here's the link: http://badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290431/ 544046.html?1267823594 In subsequent discussion someone from the factory identifies precisely which product from Aspen they use. |

Tractions come with the factory throttle tube installed on the throttle grip. If you buy another brand, like Progrips, you will have to remove the buell grip off of the factory throttle grip and replace it with the new grip. Traction grips are great if you can find some. |

Tennis Racket grip tape works real well. Don't scrimp when buying them. I used 2 of the ones with a rubber wrap for the tie off. They are perfect. |

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Traction grips are no longer available? Which is the reason I started this thread, in hope of finding Tractions or something to replace them. The tennis option sounds good and something I had not thought of. There has got to be some high tech tennis sh#t out there in this day and age, intriguing. |
