I am having thoughts of selling my 08 1125R. I hear about all of the service and parts issues and am getting worried. I am not one who wants to deal with any headaches. But when I walk by my bike in the garage I have second thoughts. I just love the damn thing. But Ive said the same about some women who turned out to be a pain in the ass as well. i dont want that from my Buell. What to do???

It's worthless and it's going to be nothing but trouble. I say sell it quick!

I would be willing to take it off your hands though. Does $3500 sound fair enough?

Yea, just ride it. Track it and treat it like a bike you don't care about.

Oddly enough, they have fewer problems the harder you ride them.

I ride the hell out of mine. Only have 6400 miles on it but they are hard. No track all street but average speed 80+ plus.. love this bike.

ride it. work your way through any of the issues. i have yet to ride a bike lately that feels as good as a properly set up 1125r.

Just ride it ... I hear about people with troubled marriages too, but it doesn't make me want to avoid my wife. Oh wait, bad example ; )

How many miles do you have on it? I only ask because it took about 2000 before I bonded with it. Now I dig it.

And is this your only bike right now? So if it is laid up for a bit do you have something else to ride? Always good to have more than one motorcycle no matter what you have.

Ride the heck out of it while it's still under warranty: whatever is left will be bulletproof.

You know you hear that Harley will only make spare parts for 7 yrs. Thing is all the Jap bikes are no different, they stop parts production on older models all the time you just don,t know it.Ex: Try to get a 1999 R1 swingarm from Yamaha if they have one its been on the shelf for awhile because there not making them anymore. I have a 2008 1125r no way Iam selling it!

I agree with Milt. I have three other bikes but the 1125r gets the most seat time. Partially because I really enjoy riding it but partially because I want to put as many miles on it as possible during the warranty period so that anything which is going to fail will hopefully do so under warranty.

Thanks for the advice. Id say its unanimous. After about 20 minutes of thrashing on the R and seeing 150 a couple times, I cant let her go. I mean really..how much can you improve? Maybe a new exhaust is in order????

Glad you came around. Keep riding it, and if something breaks, you will cross that bridge when you come to it. Fix it and move on : )

You name your motorcycle, it'll have its problems, and these discussion forums are where you'll read about the problems that occasionally creep up on some of us. I've been real lucky myself not to have had any major issues with my 1125R and I'll continue riding mine until I tire of it and move on to something else.
I've been on discussion forums for the Yamaha FZ1 and the problems that have crept up on some of those owners make what shows up on BADWEB look like nothing.

Owning a Harley or a Buell is more of a commitment than with some bikes. The question is; are the trade-offs worth it?

What twin comes close to the 1125, a Ducati?
A 1/2 to 1/3 price American made Duc.

Read some of the threads; 1190 motors, better braking systems, Penske and Ohlins suspensions.

The American Hot Rodder's dream is a vehicle that can be incrementally improved on over time.

The 1125 is the American Hot Rodder's bike. The dream starts here. Erik Buell Racing and American Sport Bike.
