Oh wow. For the Luddite there's the Lee Parks and for the Technophile there's the Knox Handroid. I've been happy with my Teknic race gauntlets...but the funk...I can't kill it. They are all leather no carbon or plastic bits. I have other gloves with plastic or CF protection but they've all fallen apart as the Teknic's kept going and going. I almost got some ICON Ti-Max when they first came out but thought maybe they were a bit over the top for the 1979 Bonneville Special I was riding back then. Thanks for all the links and suggestions. I'm researching all the new info now |

Anyone have experience with the Aerostitch Hot Weather Vegan Glove # 435? No way! I like meat too much, he he. Boogiman1981 - if you've never seen the gloves with the ring and pinky linked together, it is something that Alpinestars started a few years ago on their top of the line gloves. They sponsor a lot of professional racers and claim their research showed that in certain crashes the pinky finger would fold back, or worse, get ripped or ground off completely (Troy Bayliss, Roger Lee Hayden, etc.). The idea with the linked fingers is that the pinky, the shortest and weakest finger, is attached to the ring finger with leather or plastic pieces to give it more support in the event of a crash and help prevent this situation. Who knows if it's marketing gimmicks or true safety innovation? Lots of competitors copied their idea and that's why I like Spidi's solution the best. When I'm on the street, I unlink the fingers (has to be done withe gloves off) so I can just 2- and 3-finger the clutch and brakes (Peter Griffin voice: "I just said FINGER, he he he he"). When I go to the track or am in full-attack mode in the twisties, I link them together for maximum protection as I prefer to use all 4 fingers on the levers. I use my laptop and firearms for a living, I need all my digits and will take all the help I can get! Jeff |

Good Gawd, those Knox Handroids are SWEET! The Vansons are nice too. Anyone know if they either are US made? Looks like the handroid would keep your fingers from getting bent too far backwards. I have been using a pair of cheapie Olympias for the last few years. They are gauntlets with kevlar or something formed knuckle protectors. The worked well when I crashed last month. The knuckle guards were pretty banged up. |

Cravacor - In the previous replies I think the only USA-manufactured glove was by Fox Creek Leather. Just about every major manufacturer of motorcycle gear (top brands such as Dainese, Alpinestars, etc. included) manufactures most, if not all, of their product line offshore (China, Vietnam, etc.) If you're concerned about quality, you shouldn't be. Every one of Apple's techno-wonder devices are manufactured overseas and their quality is top notch. If the company does a good job managing overseas production and vendors, the quality won't be in question. Jeff |

The Vanson site states that they're made overseas. |

A good cure for "funky gloves"... Turn them inside out, and put them out in direct sunlight for a day or two. U.V. rays will kill the "funky" bacteria and leave them nice and fresh. Same goes for race leathers. |

I had a pair of Held "Racing" gloves, these were the best gloves I ever had, and lasted for many years, until I burned them badly grabbing the header riding home in a wet hail storm for an hour and a half. I replaced them with a new pair of Helds, the ones with the soft knuckle armor, not the hard stuff, and the new asian made helds really don't hold a candle to the old ones! less than a year and I have had to have a few fingers restitched on the gloves, and the leather is not as thick as the old Held gloves, and the padding is not as heavy. Still a quality product with good protection, but for well over 200 bucks for the Held, I will definitely go with Helimot and made in USA next time! |

Thanks for the tip about UV killing the funk. How can you know if you are getting the good German made Helds? |
