Yes, this is admittedly a shameless plug, but I hope the content justifies it. Former Buell platform director Steve Anderson is my guest on Cycle World Radio this afternoon at 5pm PDT/8pm EDT . It's not supercomprehensive (you can get all that from his article). Also, I have to keep things flowing and relevant to a general audience. So if you hear things and go, "duh," that's why. Mostly, he's a very smart, fascinating guy with a strong point of view. I look forward to your thoughts (be gentle please). Go to www.cycleworldradio.com for info on how to get it... But basically-- you can find the live stream (and later download an mp3 till next Saturday) at www.radioamerica.org. After that-- iTunes podcast. :-) |

You know something? It strikes me as odd that no one here was interested in this. |

I was interested, however like others it was not a convenient time for me. Also, something about having the ability to listen to it later, makes the urgency seem less. Just like my DVR at home. I suspect you will have some people listen to the recording over the near future...myself included. POssibly if you hit the Buell issue harder than you indicated in the teaser, more Buellers would have tuned in. We already know so much from this site and Anderson's Cycle World gem. |

Thanks for the links. Very interesting interview, although you can tell it's hard to do one by phone. Interesting to hear about several Buell people working for Zero electric motorcycles now (hey, that might be another good interview). I did think Steve almost got a little emotional when talking about how the Barracuda 2 would have been IN PRODUCTION RIGHT NOW if HD had just left Buell alone. I would have been really interested to hear if Steve plans any involvement with Erik's future exploits (I think you would have gotten there if you'd had a little more time). I guess the fact that Steve's still in Wisconsin could be taken as a positive sign. |

Yeah, if you read the article, there was some overlap here. It is interesting to hear that some Elves went to Zero, looking forward to seeing what happens there in the next few years. Hopefully now that the US is getting serious about battery production we will see weight and price of batteries go down while discharge time and amperage go up. My only problem with an electric bike would be how to make it sound cool! Breaks my heart every time I hear about the Barracuda, especially the "Old Yeller" analogy Steve used. FU to the Wandell posse. |

Oh, and plug away Natty, keep us posted on future interviews. Being able to download an MP3 and listen to it at work was cool. |

Steve, Good interview. Nice to hear that Zero picked up some of the great talent. Still a really heart breaking story. Thanks to you and Steve A. Loren |

If you have iTunes software loaded on your computer, go into the iTunes "store" and navigate to PODCASTS. Then search in the box for Cycle World Radio. You'll see over 100 episodes. The first 50 or so are two-hour shows, then we dropped back to one-hour. Maybe one or two will be of interest. Or if you don't like detective work, you could just follow this link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/cycle-world-radio/id281532787

I hope i don't step on Steve's toes hear. but i think you all are friends.. I also listen to Todd Wilson and Bill Miko here http://www.motorcycleradionetwork.com/index.php All of you are friendly about Buell and have spoke your mind about the situation.. I believe all three even own a Buell too! Keep up the good work! Now, if we could just get Bill and Todd to cut out the commercials in the podcast! I enjoyed the interview. Something either you or Steve A. said stuck with me. People like to read a story, just not a bunch of facts. So uncovering Steve A's achievements in a dialog setting was enjoyable to listen to. It was slow at times. You sort of had to pull it out of him. Truly brilliant people don't much like talking about themselves, I guess. |

>>>>You sort of had to pull it out of him. I liked the interview technique and was impressed. I'm not exactly sure what impressed me yet but I've got it on the iPod and am going to listen again closely . . as much for the mechanics of the technique as the content of the responses. I enjoy writing and public speaking but I am not at all a good interviewer and it's a real talent. I generally have an eroded attention span for those types of interviews and really enjoyed this one. |

Court: Thank you. I've been working as a journalist in TV, radio and print for many years. What you're hearing is the result of what I've learned. Without getting too esoteric, the keys (to me) are active listening and intelligent, audience-aware contextualizing. s |

And Doerman: Steve's speech is measured and wise. He's not one to blather off the cuff and then beg forgiveness later (like, me for example). He is one of the rare ones who absolutely GETS both science and art (writing/storytelling in his case)... and that combination makes him the great guy he is. That's why similarly wired Erik Buell talked him into coming to East Troy in '05. And of course it's why he and similarly wired Kevin Cameron hit it off from the start. Guys like these who ace both sides of the SAT are my favorite people, as they follow in the tradition of great thinkers like DaVinci etc. These are the kind of guys you wanna sit and have a steak and let the conversation follow its inevitably fascinating course. You just better be on your game if you get the opportunity. :-) |
