The first person who contacted you was me. Clearly, indisputably, right there in tan and black a few boxes up. You placed the ad HERE, so THIS is home-base for that contact. That's SOP unless specifically stated otherwise (which, in point of fact, you didn't do). The fact that you put a phone number does not change the protocol. I responded in here. You didn't. Ok, so I called you after waiting for a response for a couple days (not wanting to pester). We then made a deal for your asking price. I was literally in the midst of the paypal process to pay when you tell me you're selling the items for LESS to someone who responded to your ad after I did. That seems...wrong. If you had stated in your ad "Do not respond to the ad - only call me" or some such, I'd have called. But the beauty of this protocol, where everyone interested posts a response, is that the "dibs" order is immediately and publicly apparent. No weirdness. Your murky phone call process just gummed the whole thing up. It cost you money to sell the stuff for less to a line jumper. |

As a potential future seller, I do not understand this 'dibs' protocol. Is that really the system here? No offense to anyone here but if a phone number is posted, isn't the risk of being second buyer in line to someone who calls the seller implicit? You gotta look at the sellers point of view too. Dibs is meaningless if the seller has logged off the computer to go answer the phone, or the doorbell for that matter. Also, badgering sellers about a 'dibs fail' may drive them (or other potential sellers like me) to list parts on some other site. Just sayin'. |

Agreed with Thejuicer and Hulagun. It's nice to see that there are still people out there that have principles. The Seller sold the items to the first person who contacted him and resisted the temptation to sell to the next buyer even though the seller could have got more money. That's what I call honorable. Some people should take note. |
