I have a fmf pipe and an ECM from ebr and I still think my cr was more powerful with the stock equipment. Anybody have any thoughts on this? |

Because the power delivery is much smoother with the race ECM, it doesn't provide a sudden rush, it's more linear and "feels" less powerful. |

You will have less perceived power due to the improved smoothness with the Erik Buell Racing race ECM. Throw it on a dyno and you will see the power gains. |

...and give the EFI a chance to learn. You just sent it back to kindergarten; it's gotta learn how you like to ride all over again. |

Yea, what he said. The Erik Buell Racing ECM definitely makes the bike 'feel' softer, it smoothes the power delivery so much. No doubt for me the difference was significant. My gut reaction was to not like it, because I like the more brutal nature of most liter sportbikes, but the Erik Buell Racing ECM is the way it's supposed to be and a performance improvement for sure, so I need to get used to it. I in fact swapped my R with a CR swingarm & gearing to help get some of the pop back. I don't know about the exhaust, but I would bet $ that if you dyno'd you'd see better power #s. |

I had 1500 miles on the original ECM and maybe 1000 with the Erik Buell Racing ECM. I put the stock ECM back in for stator FX and rode it that way for a 200 hundred miles. I put the Erik Buell Racing ECM back in yesterday and the bike is so much more relaxed. Having gone back and forth 2x with the ECM's I can say that the Erik Buell Racing is superior. The standard Erik Buell Racing idle air control settings do make the bike easier to ride. I was skeptical about IAC changes but going back and forth with the ECM's made me a believer in the Erik Buell Racing ECM. THX Erik Buell Racing. |

does the ebr ecm even utilize the o2 sensors for cruis-range learning? i didnt think it would. i wonder what specifically they did with the IAC. |

From what I gather, it will not go into learning mode. It will utilize the O2 sensors if they are hooked up, but only to keep the engine running as close as possible to the mapped settings. If they are not hooked up, it simply runs off the map with no corrections at all. Not sure what they did to the IAC, but I've notice less engine braking now. |

Agree with Dannybuell, I have done much the same thing and can confirm his observations. Less engine braking with the Erik Buell Racing ECM is caused by IAC mods by Erik Buell Racing which I quite like, reminds me of a two stroke. |

. Another tech and I dynoed our 08 1125s he has K&N Jardine pipe and Erik Buell Racing ECM. My bike is K&N stock pipe stock stock ECM. We dynoed same day and back to back. Peak hp and torque were very close but at around 5500 to 8000 RPM my bike has around 8to10 more hp and I wanna say around the same torque maybe a little less. Did not sniff the bikes so don't know AF. I'll put up a Dyno print out tmw. |

I love my Erik Buell Racing Race ECM for the low end drivability but I really do think improvements can and should be made for the top end with the stock can. Maybe the stock can is never going to give the rush of an open exhaust, but I can feel the flatness at WOT. In fact the bike seems to pick up as I roll off WOT. When that happens with a carb I'd just put in a large main jet, so it follows that the ECM should be dumping more fuel in the throttles to get max power at WOT. But overall (for my style of riding) the Race ECM works way better than the latest flash on the stocker. |
