Hey everyone. I was home for a few days this past week on a short leave from Fort Hood prior to heading overseas next week. Anyway, I got one good day of riding in with my son. I started off riding the 1125r and Sean on the Blast (since I left the Uly in NJ with my brother), and about 3/4 way into the ride we stopped for some refreshments and I actually let him ride the 1125 for the remainder of the trip. Of course the rules were that he had to stay behind me...so I could set the pace...but he did a great job. He really loved riding that bike...and even though I never gave him a chance to open her up...I know that he gained a little respect for the power! Anyway...been reading about all the rides and adventures here (a little bit jealous to be honest), and just wanted to say hi before I officially depart. Ride safe everyone! |

Just got an email from Vanmar racing. Looks like I'll be doing my lesson in the morning session instead of the afternoon session. Aughhhh, now I have to be out the door by 0530 on Monday morning. I'm glad tho, I wanted a morning session anyway, not as hot and usually everyone on the track isn't as assertive early in the day. See you all there. |

Julie, I will see you at the track bright and early. We plan on being there when they open up at 8am. Good group of Buellers going. Much better in the morning. Then you can practice what you learned in the afternoon. John |

Hi John, Yeah, I'm kinda glad I'm doing the morning session as it will hopefully be cooler at that time. I only paid for a half day so I most likely won't be staying for the afternoon session. Dan and I just got back from a nice ride. I hit 120mph today Now my next goal will be 125mph, maybe I'll hit 140 at the track?????? |

Julie, Brian told me that their are no half days in the summer at the track. He had to buy a full day so maybe you are good for part of the afternoon. Be careful with those speeds over 100 as you know. Instant impounding of your bike and you go to jail. (but on the other hand, good for you) |

John when I signed up for the track day for Monday there were three options - full day, 1/2 day in the am or 1/2 day in the pm. I paid for a half day and that's what I got charged $90. So I'm not sure what Brain's talking about. Get online for HPR and it's right there. The road i pick up the speed is a back road and there's usually very little traffic or cops on it. Dan's already forewarned me that if I get stopped on our trip he won't stop for me. Just got on the HPR site, there are no half days for the winter session but there are in the summer (Message edited by jumpinjewels on July 04, 2010) (Message edited by jumpinjewels on July 04, 2010) |

I have a feeling he will do just that. Julie, please be careful out there. We all want to keep you around for a long time and as you know the track is the best place to go fast... You have a great track day... Drop me a pm when you and Dan are going out to the KOA in Gunnison. We have so much planned this month but it we are able to make it out there for one night that would be great. Lynn rode a dirt bike so I guess I will be buying one or two soon. There are so many choices out there that I just do not know where to start. I have to get something low enough so she can ride and learn with. Be safe and happy 4th to all. Frank |

I promised Dan I won't be crazy on our trip. There are just times I have a need for speed. I, too, want to be around for a long time. Thank you for your concern. We will be in Gunnison the 17-19th. I love my little Kawa KLX140L. I can touch the ground and it's very light. Dan's thinking of making it a 160 this winter so it has a little bit more power. There are a lot of great dirt bikes out there. Have fun looking. |

Back in Canon City. It was really nice riding weather today. Not too hot, no rain, and not too much wind. This was the first ride since getting back from Homecoming. |

Hate to say it, but I wouldn't stop either. Being that stopping to wait on someone else getting pulled over got me and another the same ticket. |

Frank, was wondering where the meet up here in the Springs is for the trip this Sat and what time? I'm still a maybe, as if my plans come together then I'll be on another ride, but with how things look right now they probably won't. Also, would I need to RSVP a room at the hotel there? |

It depends on if anything is available that day... It is up to you if you want to chance it... It is not like Gunnison is a tourist town but you never know. |

In our experience Gunnison is a tourist town in the summer. Dan and I had a hard time finding a place to stay a few years ago when we did the bike only trip out that way. The only place we could find to stay was a Comfort Inn across the street from the Walmart. Altho, with the economy the way it is maybe it won't be so busy. When we made our reservations for the KOA for our 3 night stay this year, we didn't have a whole lot of choices. Have a great weekend, it should be fun. Jody, I'll give you a call and update you on the track day. I have a lot to learn with this new bike. (Message edited by jumpinjewels on July 06, 2010) |

Thanks for the pics John. It was great seeing you and all the guys out there. Now I just need to go out and practice what I learned. If it works out, I'd love to get out there on an open track day in August to practice but I don't know if time and finances will be available. |

Groan, I hate doing valve jobs on I4 bikes. Helping a buddy with his ZX-12 valve clearance check. Man, those things area b**** to work on. Makes me love my 1125R and it's valve setup. That was heaven to work on. |
