Anyone know anything about Shinko tires? i.e. sticky? how long they last? rain worthy? worth the money? etc. |

Make sure they aren't made in China out of whale blubber or something. |

The BEST tire I have found is the Dunlop D616 |

Dunlop D616 Nice looking tire. Price is the same as others. Good for the Northwest weather. |

I've got about 4500 miles on a set of Shinko raven 009 sport touring tires. So far they are holding up well. I got 5600 miles out of the D616's that came on my Uly. The Shinko's look like they might go near double that. Grip is good for the street, at least for me. Sorry to say I don't do wet weather riding; so I can't say how well they might work then. |

5600 miles? And you think you can double that with the Shinko?? That's amazing. |

There is close to 5k miles on the Shinkos, at this time. I'd estimate there is about 50 to 60% left on the rear. |

As a comuter tire, Id say ok, as a twisty tire, don't think I'd trust them, but the same could be said about Maxi's of just a fiew years back, which now are up in guality compared to when they first came out For actual dedicated rain tires I think only the Avons are safe |

Shinko's have been used by me and a few friends..... They are unbeatable for the price, but don't take em to the limit, they fade unexpectedly... Trust me! But yeah, they last a long time, except the race tires of course. The race tires grip great, but don't last long at all. 1000 to 1500 miles for the soft, even less for supersoft. |

I am also using the shinko 009 raven on my Ulysses and I think they are a very good tire. I have about 1500 mile on them and I ride hard but they still show no signs of wear or flat spotting. I hit the corners hard and fast and they have been very predictable and stick great. I Have read about others getting 10k plus from the rear tire. I have also read that the Independent supermoto racers like the 009 because its good in the dirt parts, as well as the paved parts of the track, and they are inexpensive. I had the original D616 on the front of my bike this spring and the Third one on the rear. The front was cupped at 10k and the rears only lasted about 5k each. I like the shinko 009's better than the 616's. If you do some searching and read the reviews the ones who have shinko tires have nothing but good things to say. It's the ones who have never tried them that poo poo them saying that they are cheap and not to trust them. And the shinko 009 is excellent in the rain. Here are the Shinko 009 Raven's on My Ully.
