Mnrider - No that is not my bike. I'm too sad to post a pic of what it used to look like. I'm having some serious withdraw. Jphish - good advise. I do actually ride a lot of dirt on my weekend rides. Most of my trips are medium milage (around 2-3K miles). I purchased a 2009 F800 GS last night. 10K miles and about $4K in upgrades. Cash buy $9700. Has BMW bags and a Sargent seat and a bunch of Tour Tech stuff including HID aux. lighting. Very comfortable ride. Hopefully this is going to work for me. I'm excited about it. |

Swim' - Congrats on the ride. The 800 should be a very capable dirt/tourer replacement. Solid machine - rear wheel bearings an issue on a select few - but hell, us Uly owners are used to that. Unlike the XB, that can go at any time - the GS is apparently either a problem early on, or no problem at all. (bad wheel hub / bearing fit?) Now we gotta get back into the chain lube business. My Tiger likes the "Dupont teflon multi-use dry wax lube" (NOT the specific 'chain lube' version...oddly enough) OK for O'rings & lubes just the chain - not the whole bike. You'll like it. Doesnt work well on the Uly belt though! Chow' and Be Careful out there. j |

Thanks Jphish! The bike I purchased belonged to a sales guy who works at the BMW dealership. All of the service bulletins and recalls have been addressed. Apparently, I'm going to get a new chain and sprocket set as part of a service bulletin report. BMW is systematically issuing recalls for most all F800GS units. Seems okay to me but there must have been an issue somewhere. Funny, I almost bought some of the Dupont dry wax you recommended. I'll definitely pick some up now. We had better be careful or we're going to get kicked out of the Ully club if we keep writing about other bikes! I may not get another Ully but I will be searching out a deal on another Buell. (As soon as my wife forgives me for buying the GS!) Happy Fourth and everybody ride safely!

Is the Uly cover, the water resistant cover? or is it the dust cover, meant for indoor? And what kind of price? Good luck with the 800, I was originally looking at that too! |

Mad Doc - It is the indoor cover. The 800 is great so far. A little down on power when compared to the Ully but it pulls in every gear. I like it but loved my Buell! As I stated earlier - I will get another Buell. |
