So my rear tire is flat. Given that I am currently unemployed and trying to make every dollar last as long as possible, I'm in a dilly of a pickle. I was wondering if I could trim the budget in any way and got to wondering about whether or not there is a warranty for the original tires. Can't find that portion of the bathroom reading that was given at purchase as I've moved since then and frankly I'm too lazy to go tearing through boxes and papers. Anyone know if the Corsa IIIs that came with the bike have any warranty on them? Bike was purchased Nov. 14th and has approx 2600 miles. | ||

Figure out why it went flat. As long as the tire doesn't have a puncture it would be covered under warranty. | ||

The EXTENDED warranty can be bought with tire and wheel coverage. Other than tire wear, anything else is covered by that. For warranty-able tires with the factory warranty, read the little Pirelli card that came with your paperwork. It would have to be a non-wear, non-road-hazard type of issue to be covered. If you wore it out, or if you picked up a nail...no good. If, however, belts separated or it won't hold a bead...it's a possibility. | ||

Thanks for the input, everyone. Borrowing a rearstand today. Not going to hold my breath on getting a freebie but will certainly try. I'm thinking of replacing the rear brake pads while it is up. Found a set on fleabay for 45 bucks plus 16 for shipping. Just curious, is that a better price than what the dealers are charging? | ||

AC, even better. I gotta say big thanks to this board, my most inane questions are answered quickly. Looks like the leak is coming from the bead on the left side of the rim. Time to dig out the pirelli doc and see what can be done with whatever existing warranty. | ||

The bead could be either a bad rim (I've seen a few) or also possibly just a bad installation. Either way, it is covered under the standard 2 year warranty so you shouldn't have any issues getting it fixed. | ||

I'm here at the dealership. They are telling me it isn't covered as I may have ridden on it flat and that could've messed up the bead. Like I'm going to ride a bike like this, or any other bike for that matter, on a flat tire. Let them know that I have always had to put in a couple/three pounds in the tire each morning and that due to weather and being out of town I hadn't ridden in a couple of weeks and that was when flat happened. Harley/Buell customer service was no help either. I'm looking at an hour of labor to remount the tire as that is the cheapest option to me now, I think I can squeeze out another K or so out of the stock tire and hopefully by then I'll be in a better place to get a new rear. I am trying to keep this in perspective, it is just a tire and not like I'm having more serious issues. Looks like this is the price to pay for not being more vigilant and responsive about the slow leak from the get go, I just chalked it up to temperature influence (would air up in 50 degree weather in Nov./Dec, temp would go down to 30 or less at night, 10 degree drop= 1 psi drop). |
