Left turn in front of me on Saturday. T-Bone at 40 MPH. Out of the trauma center. No internal injuries. The bike was totaled. Another one bites the dust!

Wow! Very happy to hear you are doing okay Swimmonkey! Thank goodness. I hope you come out okay with insurance on the bike and are out riding again soon. We can never be cautious enough. Best of luck. |

Screw the bike, it's replaceable, you're not! Great to hear you made it OK, although plenty stiff & sore for awhile. How do you feel about getting back on a bike again? |

Like Ronmold said, the bike can be replaced, you cannot. I am glad you are ok... |

I am very sore. I work out a lot and my doc said that is very helpful in a situation like the one I experienced. I was also wearing full gear (as I always do). My face slammed into the side of the side of the truck. The only mark on my face was the imprint of the air vent in the chin (from my Shoei Hornet). As for riding again, I have raced for years and have crashed on both dirt and on road courses. It's just part of the game. I actually put two hold deposits on an F800GS and an R1200GS today. I'm going to do some long test riding and pick one of those two as a replacement. I do a lot of dirt on my weekend rides and am leaning toward the F800GS. |

Be sure not to settle on the pain and suffering part of your claim for at least 6 months. |

Swim, I'm very glad that you're ok, and in the spirit of Badweatherbikers, can I be the first to say Can I have your belt? Just kidding. Very pleased you're not injured or worse. But if you don't need the belt.... |

Amazing that you weren't seriously hurt. I am glad you are OK. Did the driver get cited? How did he and the police handle things? I hope all goes well. |

Thankfully you are going to be OK. The good part is that you get to shop for a new bike! I'd go with the 1200 myself. I just read a report in the new edition ofRider mag and it sounds fantastic, especially the GSA version. I was riding with a young man this weekend who has a GSA that he's put over 75,000 miles on in the last two years. The throttle only power wheelies that thing does are amazing! |

Wow, and I thought that I had a bad Saturday. Glad you're fine. My bike has some damage, but is very repairable, in fact I just ordered my last part (Frame Pucks) from Bumpus HD of Murfreesboro. Kudos to Bumpus, what a great dealership, and the parts guy was spot on with all of his help, and the last part that I needed is on its way to the house! |

Well, the sad day is coming. Tomorrow, Progressive is cutting me a check for $8,500 for the bike and another $1,200 for the helmet, jacket and gloves. They won't cover my Ray Bans! Thought that was pretty good for an '07 with 15K on it. The police were great. Citation for the truck driver. Three witnesses all said I was riding the speed limit and safely. (And I was) I go to the doctor tomorrow to start my physical therapy. Thanks for the good thoughts and well wishes! |

Hey Swim' - Glad your still upright and getting back in the saddle. My riding partner has 1200 & 800 GS. Tough choice - very different 'beasts' - both have their + & - . Good luck with decision & heal well. How big is large tank bag ? Chow' j |

Swim, You violated the rule of not informing me first of your list to sell. Anyway, sure glad you are OK and hope that your mishap has not scared you off motorcycles for too long. Heal up and get back on a bike soon. |

I'll wager the belt that is on your wrecked ULY is still good enough to sell as a spare. Let me know what you want for it. Thanks. |

Electroglider - The bike is gone, belt included. Jphish - The tank bag is not the Delux but when I bought it there were two available. One larger than the other - I have the larger one. It is pictured in the Buell Accessories catalog. I am seriously leaning toward an orange F800GS. I'm trying to keep up with the emails expressing interest. The belt is gone and I have sent out some prices for most everything else. |

Hey Swim' - I'll look up the bag for size comparison to the Buell one I currently have. Don't want much larger, or cant see over handle bars. On the "Panzerheads" - Ask yourself how much dirt riding your going to do. My riding partner prefers the f800GS for regional trips & dirt oriented adventures. The 1200 is still choice for longer journeys and moderate unpaved conditions. Though the Corbin on the 800 has improved the comfort significantly. Either way I don't think you'll be disappointed...except of course you wont have a Uly. j |
