I was cruising the DRZ board over at Thumpertalk when I ran across a company by the name of "Seat Concepts" that make a new foam mold & seat cover using the stock seat pan. It got my attention because of the cost but after reading some of the reviews I have decided that I will contact them to see if they are interested in Buell's. If they were to be interested then thy might meet the price point and by judging the reviews they would also meet the quality. |

Al - CYA action in Asia. I don't blame them. Here's hoping your HD contact can carry the ball a bit further. You're OUR man, if you can't do it no one can. :-) |

Saddlemen: I have just emailed my Saddlemen contact asking what type of order it would take to have them develop a pan as well. Saddlemen.com Corbin: Generations of motorcyclists have used Corbin seats and their manliness didn't fall off or quit working. Corbin seats have a different butt curve that the others don't seem to have. the pan does not ramp up to the front like OEM and others. That could give room for the boys too. http://www.corbin.com/buell/hdb1125.shtml THX (Message edited by dannybuell on July 01, 2010) |

Saddlemen and I are already discussing molding a new pan. I ordered a new seat to get them a pan, but they think they already have one there somewhere. Al |

Okay, keep us updated. Once decided is there going to be a special spot on badweb where you can see the latest results of the seat thing? REX |

Saddlemen.com has just written to share that they can develop the pan if they can get an order of 50 or more. For the pan they are asking for an additional $100.00. We currently have 45 folks who have voted and hopefully not lost interest. This seems to have taken so long to unfold. There are almost 30 who have not voted. They may have lost interest, moved on, or are just lurking. IDK. THX |

What will the prices be with a new pan? The price has increased a lot compared to what was indicated at the beginning of this thread. We are talking about twice the price of the comfort seat and maybe more with a new pan if I'm not mistaken... |

Norwegian_1125cr - Yes, that seems to be the case. The Chinese factor is what distorted the process. Sentiment seems to favor American labor and materials, prices do not seem to be as much of a concern. Corbin seats are in the $250.00 range, I wouldn't be surprised if the Saddlemen/American Sport Bike deal ends up in that range also. |

Rt_performance & All - This most recent E-mail from Saddlemen shares pan R&D costs based on a 50+ unit order. I am not trying to lock any dollars down out of respect to AL. I am also trying to be fair to all, the additional $100.00 was in the middle of Saddlemen's R&D cost range. I am sharing the Saddlemen R&D cost story and trying not to step on toes at the same time. This group believes that the Saddlemen company reflects the best value in the marketplace for American; engineering, design, manufacturing, service, and quality. THX |

Pan for $100? That's pretty steep. Can get a pan off flea bay for about $50 and send it in to be recovered. |

Is this Saddlemen seat a leather seat or a vinyl seat? I live in the deep south where it is mid 90's and above all summer and I need something to breath my butt. Vinyl is horrible. I would certainly like to support y'all, but if vinyl is going to be used, Corbin is my choice. I would love to see a choice. My vote... Leather and no gel. |

Mrred7 - I like the Corbin and the Saddlemen! The pricing is coming out the same so WTF! Saddlemen raises (pun) concerns about the male anatomy specifically ED. That seems to have struck a chord with the vendor voting. If your name was added to the list there would be two Corbin votes. I find it very odd and extremely ironic that the one company who DID support Erik Buell was Corbin and NOW Corbin is getting NO respect whatsoever from the Buell community. This community would rather reinvent the wheel and speculate on an undeveloped design. I'm just trying to facilitate. THX |

(Bump) Ok, ready for my more comfortable seat from either one of these very capable suppliers. Maybe the one that has been supporting Buell products would be good, but my azz doesn't really care, just wants a more comfortable seat please. |

When the path to using the OEM seat pan collapsed, The guy I'm working with at Saddlemen said that the alternative to develop one could start in 2 weeks. That's about now, so I'll ping him today. In the meantime, I obtained a new seat to use in case the one he thought they had there wasn't. Al |

I just got done riding 600 miles in 2 day a couple of weeks ago. I did wearing Fieldsheer Sport 2.0 leather pants. IT WAS AWESOME. The pants made the stock seat seem like a sofa. I had no idea. I am still in for a comfort seat though. |

I just did 400 miles yesterday on my Corbin, not bad, definately better than the stocker. I had to send the seat back when I originally recieved it because it was too soft, now it is much better. |
