As stated I was just wondering how many of us have had there 12,000mi.service done.Did you have the dealer do it.Or,did you do it your self.Reason is different dealers charge different prices. Thanx, danny. |

Replacing the spark plugs are the big ticket part of it. The motor is supposed to be rotated to do it. Although some on here have suggested it can be done without rotating the motor. |

The local dealer here in SC is charging around $565 if I remember right. That is the service with the valves adjusted. |

Replacing the rear plug is easy enough, but I don't see a way to get to the front one without rotating the motor... If you are going to go to that kind of trouble, might as well check the valves while you are there. |

Yeah, the rear can be done with no problem but, you'll brake the coil if you don't rotate the motor. It's a little work. The reason I asked is I did the 12k and found the frt.exhaust cam was pitted badly. So,I put it back together and took it to the dealer for warr.service, they were cool about it and replaced all the parts needed.Note that all the valve clearances were within specs. To answer any questions yes, regular oil changes at 3k mi.I highly recommend this service does'nt get overlooked and that it gets done correctly(as in not insp. the valve clearances).Just my 2 cents. |

> I did the 12k and found the frt.exhaust cam was pitted badly. Hey, I had that happen, too. Makes me want to get one final value service done right before my warranty is up just in case. |

Did mine in the garage back in January, it's pretty straighforward, although it is a pita if you're not mechanically inclined. |

The reason I really started this thread was to see if any one else has run across the cams pitting.Funny thing was the finger follower did'nt seem to have any visible damage.I'm going to have to start riding my '09 more or it'll be out of warr.befor I get to do the 12k service.Pitty is in the automotive world alot of techs will overlook this or not even do the valve insp.-adjustment.So,just another thing to look out for. |

as I approach 12,000 miles I am dreading the idea of paying around 500 dollars for this service. I could most likely do it myself but will that void warranty? If i have a problem down the road and they check the service record to see that I didnt have the service done by the dealer. How many people have reached 12000 miles and their valve clearances were off? |

If you do the work correctly yourself you will not void your warranty. Just be sure to record any adjustments you made, your valve gaps and keep receipts for anything you buy for it like fluids, filter, gaskets, shims, and spark plugs. } |

It's enough that even tho I work at a dealer and get a discount, I'm doing my own 25k right now. Taking my time and doing it right, riding the Uly for a while. Z |

Did you guys know that ducati 4 valve owners pay upwards of $700.00 for their valve adjustment services?Usually about $1000.00.Imagine if that does'nt get done right? |
