So I am having a weird issue.

My 1125r is throwing the code P0087 (Fuel PR System Error).

Here are the symptoms:

Bike idles and runs great, has great power and never spits or sputters or chokes.
It I run it up to 8500-9000 rpm area the check engine light will come on and throw the code. I back off on the throttle and the light goes away immediately. Again, during acceleration it runs perfectly so it doesnt seem to be a pump issue. I thought maybe a slightly plugged line, but its throwing me off because the bike still runs perfectly.

Im thinking fuel pressure sending unit. I do have a brand new pump that I can put in, but of course I would like to hold off on that.

Anyone else have any other thoughts? Also looking for the P/N for the sending unit.

Go into DIAG mode.

See if the fuel pressure HOLDS. get in DIAG mode, go to fuel pressure in KPA and then BUMP the starter. if the fuell pressure goes up and HOLDS then i would start with the sending unit. the fuell pressure climbs to 500ish KPA and then falls back to zero in a few seconds, then i would guess its the pump.

Buell had a problem with some fuel pumps not holding pressure... i'm "guessing" your getting the check engine light from rail pressure dropping under load... the pump itself would cause this condition, not the sending unit.

I was told my Fuel pressure problem causing the Massive amounts of leakage from my vent tube was caused by a bad Gas Cap, and Temps being too high... The dealer replaced the gas cap, Insulated the frame,and replaced a temp sensor for the fans. Bike hasn't gone over 204 since and the leakage has become a very very minimal drip at best. I also noticed that when I have to stop and get gas I don't hear a loud Whoosh of pressure (Like when you open a bottle of soda) come from the tank when I take the cap off.

Stevek1125r- Ok, I went into DIAG mode and viewed the pressure and its at in the 250 area and holds steady. It starts up and runs like that....So my questioning is, if the pressure was truly that low, would it run? The bike revs fine, runs fine, there is no hesitation anywhere.

Mavrick- It doesnt leak fuel from the vent tube and running temp is pretty solid at 180-190

Yup, it will run, but throw a code.
Mine was running 290, spec is around 400.
Also at key-on, motor-off, pressure was 150-200 not the spec 400+.

New fuel pump fixed it all.
Last warranty work, she's all mine now....

Im not getting a code at idle or normal operating, just when I hit the higher RPM's.

Well, I have the brand new spare fuel pump sitting on the shelf. I guess I may as well put it on and see if it cures my issues.
