I just spoke with TT and G-man and they're for it so it's a go for Sutton's Bluff this Saturday... INVITE THE FAMILY!!!...We'll BBQ (read burn) dogs, brats and hamburgers along with some potatoe salad and slaw, and cold drinks (yea, some of THAT stuff too)... This also might be a good chance to invite anyone else whom you think may be interested in riding or partying with us... I'll post the ride route and auto route later... We'll leave from the Eureka QT at 0900 and should be their, easily, by 1300...We'll take a rest and fuel stop at The Bixby Country Store at about 125 miles before taking on the infamous KK... Someone might want to bring a Frisbee and wiffle ball and bat or some such... If you walk upstream from where the water revelers are there is pretty good fishing... SUMMER IS GETTING AWAY FROM US!!!...The next First Saturday will be SEPTEMBER!!! See Ya! Bob |

anyone...looking for a nice day trip, the Illinois State Fair is in full swing at Springfield. I'm here to tell the truth, the food is fantastic! FRESH! corn dogs, sweet corn steamed in the husk, Elk on a stick and the piece de resistance...pork chop on a stick...think thick cut chop broiled and seasoned...it sucks to be a second place hog in Springfield. Go there and have fun, wear comfortable walking shoes, there's plenty of everything!

This Saturday's Ride to Sedalia We are meeting at Tri-County Truck Stop at 0700 for breakfast...Tri- County is located on CR AT west of MO 100...Take I-44 west to the second 100 exit and go right...Make a left at the light onto AT and Tri-County will be on your right...For those old enough (Jeeze, like moi) it's the old "Diamonds"... You can choose to either go all the way to Sedalia and see the races or turn around at any point in the ride...If someone wants to stay for the races and ride back when they're over (about 2200), I'd be happy to accompany you back...We can do twisties up and straighties back... See Ya! |

Just got back from a few days in Austin Texas. I rode the Nuked Demon down there and should have made it a couple of official Iron Butt events! About 930 miles each way. Another 70 would have been nuthin'. The Nuked Demon ran nice but did hiccup a couple times just after getting fuel this side of Tulsa. Roughly 15 hours each way in 102+ heat. Did I mention the asphalt seems to absorb and reflect heat about 4 ft up? Jeeeeeeeeez HOT! Once there I got out to the hillside a couple of days. The first day out was an easy 200+ out to LLano, Fredericksburg and Luckenbach. The second day trip was west of Medina towards Camp Wood and Leakey and logged around 550 miles. That is a route worth repeating. The 6:30 am start time was still a half hour late. Lots of critters out there in the Hill country both captive and runnin' loose. Armadillo, buffalo, camel, buzzards, turkey, freaky African lookin' antelope...etc. Hot weather riding? Dehydration was a factor and going to Texas I could not drink enough water. Coming back I decided to buy a bag of ice and hug it. After it melted down a bit I put it in my jacket and let it drip. Each bag with ambient around 102 or more lasted about 80 miles or so. Just a couple bags to cool down from around Tulsa to Rolla. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=43&post=188562#POST18 8562 DAve |
