I have an 04 XB12s. So... long story short, my bike was running good, and then it started chugging and acting like it had only 1 cylinder. Now it won't even start. So I tore into it to replace plugs and wires, and came to find a old dead and well roasted bat lodged inside the motor area of my bike. (see pictures) well the bat is removed and I can do plugs and wires myself, but the bat caused some wear and tear on some wiring. I am adding pictures of the wiring that is frayed and exposed, can anyone tell me what part it is that these wires are connected to and if it can be replaced fairly easy? Any help is well appreciated.

WoW, that is sooo nasty. Its not a bat though, its for sure a bird. that really did a # on your wires. Maybe it tried to eat its way out! Or its boiling juices cooked through the wires.![](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/barfshower.gif) |

that is your TPS sensor. It looks like a new sensor and a reset will fix you up. |

so you can just buy a new TPS sensor and it comes with everything I will need? anyone have a part number? thanks for the help! do I have to do a reset? if so, how do I go about doing that? Trying to avoid taking it into the local HD shop, cause they suck at service. |

Cancel that... got the part number for the TPS sensor. It is 29537-99Y for those interested. Still curious about what you are talking about that needs to be done for a reset? Thanks. |

I think the rat came after the chicken. Eating the remains of what was cooked he started chomping into the wires. Maybe he thought it was a bone. |

WTF!!!!!!!!!!! What 2004, IIRC you'll need ECMSpy cable from xopti and ecmspy. If ya need a copy of the software I can email it to you. The cable can be ordered from xoptiinside.com |

so I have been doing some research... I have the ECM Spy software and the drivers, exc. I just ordered my new TPS sensor unit. I just need to find the USB link cable for the ECM Spy, 47.50 seems like a lot from xoptiinside. But here's my question, once i get it all hooked up and the new TPS sensor in... do I just have to connect with ECM Spy and click the diagnostics tab and select 'Reset TPS'? (see screenshot) Or do I need to do more than that?

yeah, okay. I have the V2.0 guide... i was confused and thought you were saying there was also a software v2.0. Now i just have to find the area of the guide that applies to only resetting the TPS sensor, cause its not like I got a new race ECM or anything - just need to reset it for a replacement TPS |

Walrus, Xopti also sells the cable "kit". Its not difficult at all to put together, you'll just need to crimp the wires in. I assembled mine in about 30 minutes and saved some $$$. Plus I'm sure its easier for Xopti ![LOL](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/lol.gif) |

cool... i think i got everything lined up. as soon as all the parts come in I will give this a try. hopefully replacing the TPS itself isn't too invasive. until then, I shall clean up all the falcon remains on the inside of my bike ![](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/mad2.gif) |

After you replace your TPS, make sure that you remember to put a cap on that throttle body port like the one in this pic. (I noticed that you didn't have that capped in your pic)

You can find them in auto parts stores in the section that has vacuum hose splitters and T-fittings. |
