So a buddy of mine found an add on craigslist in shelbyville,ky for a fuel map. In the add he states he can remap the stock ecm with a new fuel map for $50.00. Does this sound like a deal or should i just order the ecm from Erik Buell Racing? |

That could go horribly wrong. I'd get the ecu. |

Yeah, Im not sure I would trust someone I found on Craigslist to just tune my bike out of the blue. Would have to be a reputable shop with a dyno at least. E-B_R ecm is best bet, more money but look for reviews on here, many extremely happy customers. |

How about a link to the ad? We might be able to better judge it by seeing the actual ad itself. |

The Race ecm - even on a stock configuration bike - makes the bike a completely different bike, low end transitional riding is very smooth and easy, acceleration is crisper, temps are lower, and better mileage to boot. I am wowed! I really couldn't believe it could get better than it was with the latest flash, but I was wrong. Far as I'm concerned - shame on the EPA for making us un-necessarily suffer that in comparison to what a good tune of the engine offers. EZ |

I emailed the guy who posted CL ad. He said that the tune is only available for local installation--he doesn't have any way to sell it to people who aren't able to come to him and have him install it personally. It sounds like this tune is probably based on some seat-of-the-pants tweaking--most likely better rideability than stock but probably not on par with something like the E B R ECM. But for $50 instead of $250, it might be a good way to smooth out the bike for someone who is on a budget that won't allow for the E B R solution. I sent him a link to this thread, so maybe he'll speak up himself. (I didn't get the impression that he has an account on Badweb, though.) |

Did he do his tuning with 02 sensors or anything, does he know his afv's? |

I didn't get that information from him. Rather than ask him and relay the information here, go to the cl ad and send him an email. He did say that if he installed his tune on your bike and you didn't like it, he would return it to stock. |

Honestly, what is to keep someone from copying the Erik Buell Racing ECM settings and mapping the stock one for less? |

Nothing Tippster, I have eeprom dumps of EBr race ECM's & other custom maps from other tuners out there, as long as the firmware matches up, just load it up with ecmread. |

YOU JUST DON'T GET IT DO YOU? THE TUNE DATA IS PROPERTY OF Erik Buell Racing, OR WHO EVER SPENT TIME AND MONEY DEVELOPING IT, NOW ITS BEING RE-SOLD CHEAPER, DEPRIBING Erik Buell Racing OR ANY OTHER SHOP OF MONEY THAT THEY BASICALY EARNED THIS KIDDIES IS A FORM OF THEFT... WHEN YOU DO IT TO MICROSOFT - ITS CALLED PIRACY IF WE WANT FUTURE PRODUCTS FROM Erik Buell Racing, WE NEED TO NOT BE DOING THIS BUT PURCHASING THE ECMS AND TUNES FROM Erik Buell Racing OR WHO EVER WE ARE DEALING WITH. ITS IMPORTANT. rant off. |

Oldog, I to have paid for all my tunes & I am not about to flog them off to people, I to like you, like to see the money go to the people who do the R&D on their products. |
