Every year since 2003, I've taken part in the Team Strange Minnesota 1000. For those who don't know, it's more or less a 24 hour scavenger hunt, similar to the Iron Butt Rally, only on a 1/11th scale. This year however, it was the Minnesota 2010, and it was a 48 hour rally.

This was my first rally on the Uly, and I was looking forward to it. Everything was going well for the first 1.5 days. I wasn't in contention to win it, but I had a lot of fun, and got to ride some great roads out in the Black Hills of SD and some great roads in NW Nebraska.

I was heading back east towards Minnesota on Saturday night (the finish was Sunday morning) and I pulled off at a rest stop. When I came back to the bike, I noticed that the rear tire was looking a bit rough. I slowed it down, and went the 90 miles to Sioux Falls, where I needed to stop for gas anyway.

By this time, I was showing cords. Not cool. I decided to bail on the rally, and get a room in town, and see what my options were. Turns out that J&L Harley was open Sundays.

I got there when they opened at 11, but sadly, they didn't have techs on Sundays - just sales, and service write-ups. I checked to make sure that they had some tire options for me (they did), and made arrangements for a ride and to stay with my wife's family on Sunday night (tonight). Then the service manager came out and said that they had been able to contact one of their techs and he would come out and change my tire on a Sunday.

I can't say enough good things about every single person at this dealership. From the parts guy who helped me with the tires, to the service manager who could not have been nicer, to the tech who made time on a Sunday to help a guy out on the road. This is truly a class act operation and I would recommend them to anyone after my experience today.

That's great! Always good to hear a dealer helping a motorcyclist out to get their bike back on the road!

The dealers like that are the ones that will best be able to survive in lean times.

Great to hear, if in the area anyone on this board should stop by that dealer and make a purchase, even if it's small and let them know why you stopped by.

Toledo, OH, is another one for the "good guys" corner.

Riding to Homecoming from Maryland, got as far as Toledo and the rear tire was tossing chunks (2-up, fully (over)loaded). Get there maybe 30 minutes before they close.

Have 616 rear in stock? Check.

Can they put it on likerightnow? Check.

Did they discount it 20% because it was "in stock", and knock time off the labor because the XB-owning tech knocked it out in record time? Checkcheck.

All without my even asking.

Nick, I hope you enjoyed the Coronas. I know I didn't have to get them for you...which is mostly why I did. Awesome work!

(And, by the way...they have a brand new '07 STT on the showroom floor, in white...if anyone's looking).

That's awesome. There ARE some spectacular dealers out there. Cowboy HD in Austin is one. This is my example(not a hijack!)
