just wondering why the rear brake is about as effective as my old ironhead 74 sportster? I noticed this on both my CR and my brothers CR and R. There just isn't much grab to it at all. | ||

I thought that same thing with my '09R, even coming from H-D big twins the previous 20+ years. But when a encountered an unexpected dog in the road coming over a hilltop at a speed LEO's would frown upon, I found out that rear brake will lock up with the best of them. News to me  Mike | ||

Rear brakes aren't much use on any sportbike for setting speed. The Buell one has lousy feel, for sure, but it's good enough to hold yourself on a hill, tame a wheelie, drag through the cone course, etc. | ||

Make sure it's bedded in. Try this. Do 4 or 5 stops from about 60 using only the back brake. Moderately hard braking, not locking up. Make sure and let it cool off, and you should see an improvement in feel. Rob | ||

Once you break the rear brake in you can lock up the rearwheel like no ones business...I was surprised | ||

Broken in per instructions in the owners manual and they will work great. Still a little on the soft side for my liking, but they will be good. | ||

stock: broken in fiercely it works fine. with ebc pads and wave disc its awesome. | ||

I have 700 miles on it since new and have been working it for moderate stops. I was just surprised at the lack of power the rear brake has, It will lock up on the dirt just fine but still lacks power on the street so far. I suspect it will get better over time. thanks for the input. | ||

The rear brake locks up with ease but its hard to tell until you feel the rear fish tail a bit. I have never ridden a bike that allows for much stopping power from the rear brake and on a light weight bike there even less stopping ability. | ||

Well, at least my R's rear brake will lock up with ease. Maybe some are different than others. |
