Shagg- Where did you get the graphics on your frame?!? That is uber sweet. I am going to suspend my saturday martial arts classes for the summer, so I will be free EVERY SATURDAY! Let's get a ride together. Looking for inexpensive saddlebags, being a new dad and all, formula is expensive and I am getting tired of riding with a backpack. Last, 1992 Harley Soft tail Custom 40K miles $15,000. It is my uncle's bike, he is dying, and my cousin is selling it to pay for funeral costs. (Message edited by circusninja on June 19, 2010) |

Doing some further troubleshooting on my bike today and pulled the spark plugs that I just replaced a couple months black. Of course, my luck being what it is, I ripped the end out of the rear plug wire. Since the coil side seems to be some "special" end, Iron Pony, NAPA, etc. didn't have anything comparable. Does anyone have a "spare" XB 2008 style spark plug wire? I have to wait 5-7 days for AD Farrow to get one in. Please?? :-) |

Nevermind...after trying all over town to find something that would work, I called Northstar back, got a different parts guy, and they pulled three of them out for me. Whoever "Shorty" is, he couldn't find them last night when I picked up new plugs, and he couldn't find them when I called today. They had them all along...frustrated with that at first, but now I'm just glad someone else found them for me. Headed to pick them up now. :-) |

Hope it gets here soon. The 675 is a great little bike, but it doesn't have as much oomph as my 1125. I will bring it by the shop one of these days. |

Hey if anyone local to central Ohio wants the Ulysses Valencia Orange windscreen and intake cover, like new only had on bike for a week you can pick them up from me for $250.00 cash. Pay pal $270.00 and add $20.00 if you want me to ship to you. PM me and I will answer in the order received. I am trying to keep it local but if not sold quickly I will put on the board in parts for sale. John.

I'm going nuts and developing too much of a love/hate relationship with my bike recently. It developed a problem over Memorial weekend and I've had no luck resolving it. My warranty expired that very same weekend so I took it in and they replaced the exhaust valve actuator, which is what the check engine code indicated. However, it didn't resolve the problem. Now it's out of warranty and Farrow's can't guarantee that it would still be covered since the warranty is now expired - even though the original problem wasn't resolved. I've gone about as far as I can go without starting to shotgun more parts. I'd prefer to get to the underlying problem and start to enjoy riding my bike again. Anybody with some mechanical experience want to get together and help me figure this out? I'd be happy to provide pizza and your preferred beverage! Thump, I work at a car dealership service department and if this was a car I would say it sounds like the catalytic converter is plugged up. But since it does not have a converter I would bet the muffler is restricted causing the loss of power. It may have a bad valve in the muffler that is stuck closed or come off and is now restricting the flow. That would explain the code for the actuator if the valve was sticking and not letting the actuator work properly, but now instead of sticking its blocking up the exhaust flow. I would try removing the muffler and taking a short ride to see if the power is restored. if it is you need a muffler. if not??? |

Thump, I'm very much mechanically inclined and would be happy to help you work on it. John. |

hmmm...that's an interesting thought John. However, it seems to happen across the RPM range, from idle to red line. So if the valve was stuck either open or closed, I would expect it to ride good on one side or the other of the RPM range. It's my understanding it's an open or closed, with no progression. It's still worth a shot, but I think removing the muffler will cause more issues then it helps identifies. The back-pressure would be totally removed and the headers won't have anything to sit on. Unless someone has a spare XB12 style muffler to swap it out to test? |

What I was thinking is that the muffler is completely restricted not one side or the other, that would affect the entire range. As far as the headed its bolted to the heads and should not be a problem for a short trip, it will be very loud and lack in low end power due to no restriction but should not cause ant other problems. To test a car here if the converter is plugged we take out the front o2 sensor and screw in a gauge that reads the back pressure but I don't have that tool and the o2 sensor on the bikes are hard to get to. Any way its something to try. Also, I don't know about motorcycle dealers, but car dealer service managers have the authority to ok warranty work outside of the cars warranty period, or if its something that's outside their limits the service manager can call their factory rep for authorization. We always repair customers cars that are out of warranty but had the original problem before the warranty expired. Long story short I think Harley should pay for the repair. |

Thump4fun, Have you called and talked to Kelly the Service Mgr of Northstar yet? They can always contact tech services to obtain out of warranty authorization, sometimes. Typically you would be signing for the diagnostic fee until the problem is found though. Just a heads up. |

Thanks Neil. I haven't talked with Kelly yet, but I did give up on it myself and dropped it off tonight with Paul. Paul remembered me from the original issue and seemed to think they'd get it covered under warranty since it wasn't fixed the first time. Paul did say the only other time he'd seen something like this they replaced the ECM (which is where my troubleshooting was with BadWeb's help - ECM and IAC) and it fixed it. So I'm guessing that's what's going to happen next. We'll see... |

OK, who else has a pic of their Buell sitting in a vineyard? Beautiful ride through the NY Finger Lake region. Shown are the Knapp Winery Vineyard overlooking Seneca Lake below. Not much on the way of fun twisties, but awesome scenery, broad sweepers, and neat little towns of a bygone era. Hope everyone is having a great riding weekend. Awesome weather!

Jason, there is a side shot of my bike & fairing on my profile page. Here's a pic from the other side on the same trip. May be the best rural cafe i have ever stopped at. Awesome soups and baked goods.

If his wheels are like mine, they are more of an exhaust dirt with the blue underneath........... Thanks for the pic, I've seen bikes on here with the side fairing but not any arctic white ones. Anyone going to Vintage days or the superbike race at Mid-ohio coming up?? |
