The past few days on a few occasions when i come to a stop at a red light the idle stays at about 2000. it will not drop unless i drop it in gear and begin to let out the clutch. recently replaced the plugs and wires, other than that no other mods. |

I know you said no other mods, but have you done a TPS reset lately? Keep a 27T torx in your pocket while you ride and when it hangs dial down the idle screw a tad. I have done this several times. If that doesn't fix it I would look for an intake leak. |

Yea your idle is a tad high, lower it a tick or do a TPS reset. |

Its been my experience that the symptoms of an out of cal TPS feel like the throttle is hard to control at low speed. It kinna feels like nothing happens when you think it should, then wham, it goes... kinna like an on/off switch at low speed. If your bike is hanging during idle after decel, but the throttle feels correct otherwise, its just a high idle. TPS position and idle speed are loosely linked but VERY different. On my '04 12S every time I've reset the TPS per the ECMSpy documentation, I still had to go for a ride, get everything good and hot, then tweak the idle screw till it idles at 1050rpm. Following this procedure I never have a idle hang problem even on the hottest (104 degrees) days. |

Leaky intake seals presented high-idle only when engine was fully warmed-up and fan-on hot in my experience, '04 XB12 @ 5k miles. |

replaced intake seals, what a PIA. now the bike spits, sputters and stumbles. to the point that there is a back fire that can be seen in the throttle body. the front cylinder seems to be missing. the header pipe for that cylinder is not as hot as the other pipe. |

Check-out electrical connections you touched during seal replacement. |

dumb question probably but could you have inadvertantly crossed your injector plug connectors when you replaced the seals? I crossed them up when I replaced my intake seals... ran like CRAP... just sayin.. |

"all the running issues were there before i did any work on the seals." You didn't say anything about spit, sputter and stumble before you did the seals...If all wiring checks out then you may need to make sure the seal(s) are seated properly and not blocking the intake tract. Your original issue could have been caused by a binding throttle body/cable too but the symptom was consistent with a leaking intake seal. |
