I have the tires and service manual for my 09XB12Scg. The buell dealer charges 60 per tire if I ride the bike in. They only charge 20 if I just bring in the tires (no bike). How difficult is it to remove the tires from the bike? How difficult is the install? The dealer will be mounting and balancing them... -Nick- |

Just follow the directions and it is not that big of a deal. You should have no problem if you have a way to jack up and support the bike. I have a hydraulic MC jack with wooden adapters for muffler lifting. There are posts that show the pattern for the wooden adapters. |

It is pretty easy to remove the wheels, but is isn't very obvious. Might be a good time to purchase a copy of the shop manual, especially if this is your first time. Note that the front axle is reverse threaded: that is to say to loosen it, you need to turn it like you were tightening it. |

"Note that the front axle is reverse threaded:" Is that true just for the XBs or the Tubers are the same way? |

Thanks guys. @ gentleman_jon Like I said in my original post, I do have the service manual. This will be my first time removing the tires from the Buell, so I just wanted to see if this was going to be a pain or not. Thanks, Nick |

Kalali, tubers have nuts on the ends of the axles,on XB's the left lower leg on the fork and the left side of the swing arm are threaded. Tuber axles have right hand threads. |

super easy. Remember to use anti-seize on those axle shaft threads. I didn't have a motorcycle jack at the time so I put a doghnut spare tire from my honda on a jack and lifted the bike up that way. worked like a charm. a lucky charm |

Hey NickH. I just pulled the rear wheel of my xb9s because I had a nail in it. When I installed my garage door opener a while back I put an extra long piece of L shaped steel in the ceiling. And I have two pieces of chain about 4 feet long. What I do is attach the chains to the ceiling, then attach tie down straps around the frame and connect them to the chain segments. While I hold the bike up a few inches I had my wife cinche the straps a little. Works like a champ and is pretty safe. While bringing the wheel in I just put a milk crate under the frame to take a little pressure off the straps. It looks kinda rednecky but it works well and seems pretty safe. I also put an extra 2x4 between the studs in the ceiling and put about 8 2inch lag bolts thru the steel into the lumber. When in doubt overkill on the support. Hope this helps. When not in use I just put the straps and chains away. Hope this helps. |

When the service manual says to slide axle through the left or right fork, is that assuming you're looking at the bike straight on or while sitting on the bike? Thanks, Nick |

Not making any judgments, but is that really the way the front tread is supposed to rotate? It looks like if you drove in water it would push it to the center, causing hydroplane... |
