Hey fellas. Just got my Race ECM from Erik Buell Racing today and I can't find the Stock ECM! Sorry for the simple questions, but... Where is the ECM located so I can replace the stock? Thanks for your help!!! |

OK. What is the proper procedure for taking the left pod off? Or... Do I not have to? |

Remove the torx screws with a T-30. Make sure you unplug the battery before removing the ECM. |

I see 2 Torx screws on the bottom... Are there others? Also, Do I have to reset the TPS? If so, when? |

1. Disconnect Battery 2. Left pod, six torx bolts with shoulder, two on top, two on leading edge inside area, and two on bottom. 3. There have been posts about the ECM's brass shaft and the plastic it is moulded to breaking away. I suggest lubing that brass ECM shaft with anti seize compound so that when you screw it back together any resistance you will feel will be cross threading. http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-80078-Anti-Seize-Lu bricant-Brush-Top/dp/B000AAJTXY 4. Plug the new one in and after applying anti seize secure the ECM. 5. Reattach 5.1 Pod Cover 5.2. battery 6. Perform proper TPS reset. 7. Danny is all over it - 6 bolts, all the same size, readily visible - you should be able to figure this one out. Again, be sure to disconnect battery before pulling/replacing ECM, and you do not need to do much more than snug the ECM retainer bolt (10 mm in case the question comes up). |

Thanks, Dannybuell. It sounds a bit more involved than my 2002 X1. The ecm was right under the seat on it. Very easy access. Thank you again... and stay upright!!! |

I didn't disconnect the battery and no ill effects. I'd say its precautionary but not necessary. |
