I use a Cortech GX Air mesh textile jacket with leather and armor in 'wear' areas.
Far cooler than my Dainese perforated leather jacket.
Morning temps here in Houston are 80F w/afternoon commute temps in mid-high 90's.

I'm in Northern Illinois and it usually doesn't get much beyond the low 90s, but is usually in the mid 80s in the summer. A light perforated might be fine, but I am really considering some of the textile options you guys are throwing out. Some good ones here.

Stay away from anything with a polyester blend or lining unless you want to have it melted into your skin in a crash.

I just looked at my jacket, and it has a polyester lining, why does this melt into the skin during a crash? |

Polyesters melt when they reach a certain temperature.
In a wreck, the heat built up by friction cause when sliding down the road can be hot enough to melt polyesters.
I'll say +1 on the Motoport stuff also. Pricey, but worth it. |

when you say melt to the skin, do you mean like you have to have surgery, or you have to wash off your skin well? |

From looking at the Motoport jackets they look to fit loosely. Wouldn't that cause an Issue in a low side slide? Or are they adjustable enough to get form fitting? |

There are plenty of pictures on the web of ER docs peeling melted polyester out if the skin of crash victims, and the resultant scaring.
My recent low side crash on the track in Motoport, resulted in 0 injuries. A similar crash in Leathers resulted in road rash on right arm from seam failure, broken hand from hard glove armor and a bad bruise from ankle to ass from poor/no armor in back of leathers.
Post crash, my gear was returned to Motoport and repaired in one day for $90.

As far as fit, these are custom made to your measurements and Wayne will taylor them to your exact specs as he did mine. They are not a second skin like leathers, but do fit snug depending on model.
I use a mix of the Quad armor and Tri armor in mine to reduce weight but maintain critical protection.
I have ordered a second set in the Air Mesh material for the summer.
I know I sound like a salesman, but I have no interest in this other that the safety of my fellow Buellers. |

I wear the GP2 jacket and pants on the track and as my everyday gear. I went with the two piece due to the ease of removing jacket when it's 100+ at Willow Springs.
I have ordered the Air Mesh for daily gear. |

I have lots of gear, but generally I wear a Joe Rocket Sonic 2.0 jacket. I like this jacket because its leather, has a removable inner liner and removable arm and torso sides converting to mesh. Jackets good for about 40f in the spring, and comfortable up to 78f, although I do wear in 80's. it also has a 8 inch zipper to attach to pants. In rain I have a waterproof cover jacket that I put on for those occasions. $169 (sale)
Pants- I like the Speed and Strength "Hell and back". Tough pants with removable CE hip and adjustable knee pads. Also has a removable liner and some leg areas that peel off for when its hot. 100% waterproof with sealed pockets. Make really good Snowboard pants too. Check them out, they are worth looking at. also $169 at my local Honda dealer.
Joe Rocket Meteor boots. Good waterproof boot that looks like a normal shoe when I wear them to work. low to med protection, but a good boot neverless. $112
Hot Days - Harley Switchback jacket with outer removed. basically all mesh with all armor. Better than nothing. I really like this jacket - $295
Joe Rocket leather and carbon gloves for $80. Tried on many others, just liked that brand. Speed and Strength mesh/leather for hot summer days. $30.
Arai Profile helmet. Best helmet out of about 20 I have owned over the years. Got for $295 on a super closeout. competition accessories .com. best prices on high end helmets. Made for non-round heads.
Why these choices? mostly feedback from other riders. Im not a Joe rocket salesman, just a coincidence on the gear. I have went down on a motocross bike after looping it out at about 30mph on pavement. After realizing what happens to jeans on pavement, as well as t-shirts, I will never again hit pavement without some protection. learned that about 15 years ago and have wore gear ever since. However, people always ask; are you hot, why al the protection etc. Gets annoying, but personal choice.
Note: Joe Rocket Jacket 8 inch does not connect to Speed and Strength 8 inch zipper, they are different. I had a seamstress fix that problem. |

I have the Olympia AirGlide mesh jacket, pants. Love them.
Also have the Icon Accelerant boots. Super comfy. |
