Has anyone done any sort of quick throttle conversion to their Rs? I've heard of folks who have modded a Yammy R1 throttle to their bikes, but I haven't heard of anyone doing that to a Buell. What have you heard or done? |

I jumped on board when this mod was discussed some time ago. I was one of the original buyers of the G2 throttle tamer. The R1 may fit and crosses over, but that doesn't mean it works. First of all, we all know the 1125 is a twin, the R1 is an I/4. This alone sent up a red flag, but wanting to improve the throttle response I bought the device anyway. I found G2 made a dedicated tamer for the Ducati, I figured the one I would install on my CR should be like the Duc's throttle, being they are both VTwins. I didn't get that far yet with the experiment and found the crossover tamer not to my liking. I like to blip the throttle when downshifting, as most of us do. The throttle tamer subdues engine response so much you can't spin the motor up quickly in order to blip it. You have to twist the throttle much more because its a sensation of a delayed response. Otherwise, I liked the feel and the performance of the G2 in the higher rpm ranges. Where it felt very good was during aggressive riding in twisty conditions, I liked the fact coming out of turns you can give the throttle a good whack with less apprehension of over spinning the rear wheel and possibly setting yourself up for a high side. That same benefit is a negative because of the lack of blipping response. I've somewhat learned to compensate for this lack of throttle response by over exaggerating the twisting of the throttle. G2 are really good people to deal with, at least Gary is. I think I'm going to remove the throttle and exchange it for some other configuration to try. |

Throw me into the mix, too. I'm not interested in a "tamer", but might be in a quarter-turn... |
