I'm digging the 2010 LED tail light. Just installed it today. Seems quite a bit brighter. I like the look against the red body work and with the clear turn signals. Here's a before and after video. Only $54 with a discount from my local dealer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9edYEwsDQ0 |

Do these come with a white light for the license plate? I have the Jardine tail tidy and in Maine they won't inspect the bike without a plate light. |

That looks so much better than the 09 light. Is this just a simple swap out? Are there any wiring modifications? |

Maul, there is no license plate light on the assembly. Dosmie, the connector and wire gauge is totally different. I had to cut the connectors on both the bike and tail light and solder them with wire extensions. The color coding and number of wire match. |

you did not have to cut any wires on the bike .. you just need to cut off the 2010 connector on the LED and crimp on a couple spade connectors and then its plug and play into the stock harness on the bike .. |

I did the same as Tomcrane... Worked out great! The male spade ends even snap into the connector on the bike. |

Maul- you can buy the 2010 tail light WITH or WITHOUT the license plate light. I bought mine without as my FE has a light built in. If you buy it with the light, I believe with 08 or 09 bikes you have to drill or cut a hole in the plastic under the lens to allow the light to shine down though. |

Did this myself. Added the plate light bc I didn't wanna use light bolts. Really clean install if I do say so myself as long as your easy with the Dremel tool http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/545429.html?1268291776 If you Email Al at American Sport Bike he'll be glad to set you up with it. I used to have the P/N onhand but I deleted the Email with it. |

Does anyone have a part number for the 2010 LED Tail light to make it easier to source? |

No you cant, as it is only available without the light, but there is a light that you can buy from Buell for $15 that bolts onto this.

I thought about getting connectors. Looked real quick and didn't find anything that would work. The LED Wires are so thin, I figured they slip out of a crimp connection or easily break off without good re-enforement of heat shrink or tape so I just soldered and taped. No worries about connector corrosion later. I noticed water got under my tail and into the old housing lens from riding in the rain. I like the new sealed unit, no len cover. I left enough slack so it can hang down. No big deal to solder it later if it needs to be removed. |

Here's a couple pics of the inside of the old stock tail light (poor quality). As you can see, a lot of road splash and grime made its way into the housing. I have been fortunate enough to put on a lot of rain miles. The 2010 doesn't have the lens, so shouldn't be a problem. Didn't realize how much gunk made it's way in there until I pulled it off. |

I crimped the male spades onto my '10 light's wires, and soldered them in place to be safe. Froggy - is that LP light also LED? Or is it just a replacement incandescent? |
