Gootch, don't worry my thumb did not work like it should either. Give it time. Ape hangers? You might have something there! Lo, have you made your reservations for Whistler? I finally caught on to your last post, dah! The place sounds great. I want to get my reservations made, but just want to be certian that this is the place everyone else plans on staying at to. Hope all is good with everyone. Loni |

Clocks a-tickin' folks. Let's have some decisions. Or input at least. The Coast Whistler sounds fine to me. Harve, are you rooming with with Jim and me? I think we could easily make Penticton the long way (via Kamloops, etc.) All in favor say "Aye." Anyone know a half-assed hotel in Penticton? Its a long weekend. Snooze ya lose! |

Eric, I'm in. I think we stayed at the Crystal Lodge last year and it was pretty good as I recall. There was parking for the bikes downstairs as well. The year before we stayed in the Blackcomb Lodge which was also reasonable and had parking downstairs. I am also in for Penticton so reserve away but don't forget Stu! I just got back from New Brunswick and have been travelling over 16 hours. All I can say is stay the hell away from Air Canada. Harv |

Harv How was the VFR ride with your brother? I'm currently in Hamilton, and we luckily flew WestJet. Last time was with Air Canada and that was so screwed up. Pencil me in for Penticton too(if possable). |

OK. I've spent the morning at Tripadvisor.com and Penticton.com. There are three motels in the middle of town (farther from the beach): 5000 Motel 1742 Main Street 1-877-378-9355 2 queens $98 Golden Sands 1-877-389-6888 1 queen, 2 singles,+hide-a-bed $210 or 1 queen, 1 hide-a-bed $105 Belair Motel 1 queen, 1 double $99 Nearer the beach Best Western Inn at Penticton 3180 Skaha Lake Rd. 1-800-528-1234 2 queens $139 All the above prices would be "plus tax". I favor the first, as the cheapest. Share a bed at $25 each or a queen each at $50. Doesn't matter to me. One block from the Green Mountain Road. Or an extra $20 per person to be able to walk to the lake for a post ride swim, from the Best Western. I don't remember how to do hyper links but this might go to a /http://ca.maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?Pyt=Tmap&ed=FDsaeep_0Tqu3cDgaN3QjGbHJHyXGlYd o.at5lAFb3GPAyGWdL4pw.gDsuJQlsmW.w--&csz=Penticton,+BC&country=ca&cs=4&name=&des c=&poititle=&poi=&uz=&ds=g&BFKey=&BFCat=&BFClient=&mag=10&newmag=8, a city map |

Well . That worked pretty good! Lorraine, why don't you flip a coin for a Whistler hotel choice. They're all about the same as far as I can remember. The rest: speak up about shared beds or not and I'll book 'em. I think I got their attention down south. Flame suit on! Routing from Merrit the same as last year. Search the archives. Nevermind: Merrit-Lac Lajeune-Kamloops, Barnardville Road- Westside Road(make sure your insurance is paid up!-main highway cruise to Penticton. Back-up routing: Merrit to Kelowna via the (boring) east-west connector. OR Merrit-Aspen Grove-Princeton-Keremeos-Oliver-Green mountain Road-Penticton. edited by Sportyeric on August 08, 2003 |

OK, I made our reservations in Whistler at the Coast Whistler place that Lo posted. I also made Deb and Bobs there to. Anyone else staying there or what is going on with ya all? Let me know if I need to cancel and call someplace else. The cost of the room was $115.83 canadian, $82 us. Chris and I won't be riding all the way with you on Sunday. I just don't know yet the distance I can ride. But we will be there for the party Saturday! It's gonna be another great year for Border Raid I can feel it! Miss you all. Loni |

I have booked three rooms at the Crown Motel in Penticton. ph 250-492-4092. The rooms I've booked are for (1) Don and Lorraine and Brent and Wendy(?), with two queens (2) Harve, Jim, and myself, on a queen, a single, and a hide-a-bed, not necessarily in that order. (3) Stu, John (?), and whoever, on the same as above. They said their cancellation policy was fourteen days in advance. I'm a bit worried about that but I've got those rooms locked in for now, anyway. Blackcomb Lodge wouldn't accept a reservation just for the one day. Two day minimum on the long weekend. Coast Whistler can do two double beds and a cot but I have to call in daytime. Tommorrow. 1-800-663-5644

Hey, I got through to the Coast Whistler right after I talked to you Eric. Booked a room for Brent, Cindy, Don & myself. Would have booked more for our American Border Raidin' friends but didn't know who else was coming. I know Loni booked, but anyone else?? What about Penticton? Are you guys from down south booked in yet? Oh btw... I'm Ba-ack! Been a great vacation... but looking forward to BorderRaid 2003 now! Ride on... Lo |

I have booked 3 rooms at the Coast Whistler for Deb & Bob (2 double beds), Kim and Mike (2 double beds), and Chris and I (1 king bed). We are set to go! Chris and I are not going to Penticton. Don't know about the rest of the gang from the south. Lo glad to here that you had a great vacation, looks like the next time we have a few days off will be when we paint the house, YUK! See ya soon. Well house painting isn't the most fun thing in the world but... at least it's a HOUSE! We're celebrating our 10th anniversary (like you & Chris) but it's on Sept 2nd - so you guys can help us celebrate early at Border Raid! Would you be willing to trailer the bike(s) and maybe switch off with Stuart if he can't ride the entire way? We'd love to see you guys for the ENTIRE wknd. Yeah... us Canadians can be greedy when it comes to good friends... |

Lo, We are going to trailer the bikes up to the dealership and ride to Whistler. I think that on Sunday we are going to hang out in Whistler and rent some ATV's and see some of the mountains and then later that day go back to the dealership and load the bikes and be ready to head home on Monday morning. This is something we have wanted to do for along time. Everything just depends on the hand and how well I do. We will have to celebrate our annv. together! That is cool! 2, 10 yr annv. together! NEW PLAN!!!!!!! The two week cancellation requirement scared me at the Crown Motel. I've cancelled those and booked at the Best Western Inn at Penticton. (There are two Best Westerns in town!) Rooms are $139+tax based on double occupancy, with $10 per person extra. We have, again, a room with two queens for Don, Lo, Brent, and Wendy.(Hope i'm remembering the name right.) Then two more rooms with two queens in each plus a cot booked for each room, so six beds in two rooms for Harve, Jim, Stu, John, and myself and one more. The hotel is 1 1/2 blocks from Skaha beach. There are two lakes connected by the canal. Skaha is the southern one. These guys only require 48 hours cancellation notice so I think its worth the little extra in price for the flexibilty. |

Okay, Eric - thanks for taking care of that! (Oh, btw it's Cindy - not Wendy Loni, I'm glad you'll be there for Saturday night! I totally understand about checking out the area on Sunday - sheesh I haven't even done that I and live here! Gonna miss you on the rest of the journey but what are friends for? Fun and missing when the fun is done! |
