I"m sorta waiting on the 12R's to show up and I'll probably get one of them. I"ve been checking out the local dealers and checking the prices on the '03's, how helpful the people were, etc... One salesman told me if I waited about 6 months they would probably have special financing and/or some kind of special deals, ie certain amount of accessories with purchase, etc... Not that I would wait, but has or does Buell usually have some kind of promotion on their bikes??? Thoughts???

Every vehicle manufacturer, motorcycles and cars, uses retail incentives of some sort during the course of the model year.

Part of the reason to to bring demand and supply into line and avoid things like half a years inventory remaining when new product is introduced.

Obviously things like sales velocity and a number of factors play in. I'd bet there will be something this year, but based on the intial response (at least the one I am perceiving) to the XB12's I'd bet on "less, later" as opposed to any sort of a fire sale exercise.

Part of overcoming the cognitive dissonance of buying is to know what you want, what you are willing pay and buy wisely. John Ruskin pretty much summed up that the cheapest deal is not always the best.

And if having one famed philosopher discoursing is not enough, I'm going to loosely quote Jim Witt and suggest you spend more time looking at the dealership (the ultimate determining factor in how pleasant your Buell ownership will be) and not obsess on price alone.

Thanks for your response Court... All are points well taken. I agree that with the perceived response to the new 12's any 'factory deals' would probably be few and far between, at least until the intial demand slows... In a way, it's good for my situation that the new models are going to be a few weeks coming, in that it gives me some time to 'get to know' the local dealers and how I would think I would be treated in the long run. One thing I noticed is that I visited a couple of dealers this weekend and I'll probably go back to them during the week and see how their response is... The weekends are so busy that I'm not sure you get the true feeling of a dealership... And yea, I'm looking at price as just one consideration. From yall's posts a good dealer is mucho important and that's part of shopping around...
later, Kevin
