I really have to feather the clutch a lot when taking off on my Uly as well as revving the throttle. If I don't rev the motor it will cough and almost die. Also, while in neutral and idling around 1500 rpm, if I quickly crack the throttle it will cough, sputter, then begin revving. Is this normal? |

Your idle is set too high. That will mess up all of the running perimeters at low speed. Likely needs a TPS reset with that going on. |

My bad, after Etennuly responded I started it just to see for sure. It's idling at 1000 rpm. |

That sounds like a fouled or partially fouled plug situation or needing a TPS reset. |

I was thinking TPS reset...but it's an '09 right? Highly unlikely... |

It's an 09 with 1100 miles. I had the comfort flash loaded yesterday but it's been doing this since new. |

If 06, like mine, TPS rest. Don't know much about 09's. |

My 2008 used to run like that until the ECU was reflashed. since yours has been reflashed already, perhaps your throttle cables don't have enough slack, causing the butterfly to stick open when the ECU does its wakeup TPS routine? Just a guess. My suggestion: Make sure cables are adjusted to allow for the throttle to completely close. Perform a manual TPS reset. (correct me if wrong: turn on bike without staring it, slowly open and close throttle five times then turn off.) Don't touch throttle during startup. |

Last time my bike did that it was the intake seals leaking. Do a manual tps reset and if it doesn't change remove both air scoops and spray some WD-40 around the intake seals where they connect to the heads. If any change in rpm, up or down, you'll need to change them. Most folks go to Genuine James seals. Blue silicone that goes over the end of the intake. Sometimes you have to remove some length off the intake to get them to fit but they work well. |

Mtuly, Have you ever changed the plugs??? If so,which ones are you running..? I have an 09,I don't think the TPS is an issue.. |

I'd try replacing them, maybe it had a bunch of quick starts at the dealer??..That's what I'd try..I went w/the NGK (DCPR9EIX) plugs, seems to be more responsive too...Tim |
