I am confused a bit. 06 & 07's after the kit & re-flash the fan comes on after shut down. 08-10 the fan does not come on after shut down. Right? |

There is no re-flash for 06/07's so there's no change to the way the ECM controls the fan. With these bikes (for most of us), the right side scoop that comes with the comfort kit forces enough air through the frame so that the fan usually doesn't come on when riding, except in slow traffic or at high speed in hot weather. For the 08-10, the re-flash runs the fan when the bike's above 15 MPH. It probably also changes the parameters for controlling the fan after shutdown. From what I've seen, Badwebbers have reported no running after shutdown or only a short fan run after shutdown after the re-flash. I'd guess that's a combination of the engine running cooler at speed (due to right side scoop AND fan running) and changed parameters for fan operation after shutdown. It all depends on what you're used to. This is really kind of mild weather (by a couple or 3 degrees) for early June, here in Tucson.
And the Uly runs fine. Of course, the comfort kit, the weatherstripping, and the Dragonskins sure do help. Not to mention the mesh jacket and gloves. |

FYI, I rode my stock 2006 XB12X (31K miles) today from Chula Vista, CA through Palomar mtn, Idylwild, then through Palm Springs, Palm Desert, through mts and back home. Temps were around 106 in Palm Springs and I only had a small issue with skip spark when riding uphill out of the desert. And only for a couple of minutes. Not too bad if you ask me. |

My engine light came on this Friday after sitting in traffic coming off the freeway, traffic accident nessesitated about 15 minuets of crawling to the intersection. Got it home no problem but it seemed to hesitate a bit when I throttled on from a stop. Bike was HOT, frame was too hot to touch. Took the seat off to air out the electronics. After it cooled down, turned it on, engine light came on as usual, then off, didn't come back on. Started it and ran it for a bit, no engine light. I thought it was supposed to blink if it was over heating. No matter, ran fine today, no issues at all. Just one of those things I guess, no vehicles run very well in hot weather, especially air cooled engines. I used some of the thermo wrap to plug up the opening on the right side were the heat blast fries my leg, works like a dream, cheap fix, well worth it. I love this bike. |
