hey guys I need some help in diagnosing where the leak is coming from. the xb9r had 48K now. she has been great first possible major problem. here is the thing. I got home and noticd oil on the belt and top of muffler but it seemed I also spotted oil at the clutch cable rubber boot. this leads me to think that something is sprying down. any suggestion on how i should go about diagnosing the problem. should i try to clean around first and if so any spray at autozone i can get like CRC or somehtign that wont damage any parts around it. thanks i will post pics later |

I use simple green on occasion to clean gunk of engines. Spray it on and let it soak, scrub if necessary and rinse. Once it's clean it shouldn't be too hard to spot where it's leaking from after a short ride. |

Look at your fork tube seals. They may be leaking. |

Just found my leak by using UV Leak Dye. It's like $4 an application at CarQuest autoparts. Put the dye in oil canister, shake up, fill up oil, then use UV light and blammo you found exactly where its leaking from Buelly, I can help ya with it if you've never done it before. I got hippie-grade UV light and an extra thing of ink if you don't have a CarQuest near you. Got mine in Rockville off of East montrose road. (Message edited by b00stzx3 on June 02, 2010) |
